    • A pivoting tail light bar system is attached beneath the rear of the deck of a movable-deck trailer and includes a tail light bar which pivots upwards as it contacts the ground during tilting of the trailer deck. The tail light bar automatically returns from its upper position to a normal trailering position as the deck is returned from the tilted to a horizontal transport position. The pivoting tail light bar is attached to a pair of shock absorbing support arms which absorb impacts directed at the tail light bar from the rear of the trailer. In an alternative embodiment, tail lights are conventionally placed on the rear of the trailer deck and a pivoting bumper system is provided which pivots upwards to cover and protect the lights when the deck is placed in the tilted position.

    • A towing arm device comprising an elongated arm with mounting structure at one end of the arm for pivotally attaching the arm to a tractor hitch at the rear of the tractor to enable pivoting of the arm upward and downward about the axis of the tractor hitch. The towing arm device has an eyelet mounting plate for mounting to the bumper of a truck for towing the truck by the tractor. The arm has a hydraulically actuated latch receivable in the eyelet from beneath the eyelet and hydraulically engagable with the eyelet for latching the other end of the towing arm to the eyelet on the bumper of the truck. The towing arm has a hydraulic piston and cylinder for pivoting the tow arm upward to engage the other end of the towing arm with the eyelet from beneath the eyelet for the latching operation whereby the towing arm may connect the tractor to the truck for the tractor to tow the truck.

    • A hitch assembly for connecting a towed vehicle to a towing vehicle having a pair of longitudinally extending frame portions. The hitch assembly is attachable to a selected vehicle of a group of towing vehicles having frame portions spaced apart a variety of different widths. The hitch assembly includes a pair of end members. Each end member has an attachment connectable with a respective frame portion of the towing vehicle and a support fixed to the attachment. Each attachment has a plurality of elongate openings each for receiving a fastener to attach its end member to the frame portion of the towing vehicle. At least one of the attachment elongate openings in each attachment extends in a direction parallel to the support. At least one of the elongate transverse openings extends in a direction perpendicular to the support. The support has at least one elongate transverse opening extending in a direction parallel to the length of the support and a transverse circular opening. An intermediate member defining a longitudinally extending opening. The intermediate member opening receives a support of a respective end member in a telescoping relationship. The intermediate member has a length less than the smallest width between frame portions of the numerous towing vehicles. The intermediate member includes at least one transverse opening which extends transversely through a portion of said intermediate member to receive a fastener extending through a traverse opening in the support to connect the intermediate member to the support.

    • This invention relates to a power lift hitch device comprising a frame fixedly attached to the underside of a vehicle near the rear end thereof and further comprising an elongate member having an end rotatably attached to the frame and having an extension member for selective adjustment rearward of the vehicle, and further comprising a motor connected to gearing which is connected to a threaded elongate rod extending downwardly therefrom and threaded through the elongate member for raising and lowering one end of the elongate member to connect to a tongue member of a pullable device to be towed or moved. The motor can be remoteably energized to drive gearing which drives and rotates the threaded elongate rod either clockwise to raise or lift the end of the elongate member or counter clockwise to lower the end of the elongate member to the ground for conveniently and easily hitching to the tongue member of the pullable device.

    • A towing device support is disclosed. The invention features a telescoping assembly having an inner telescoping member slidably disposed within an outer telescoping member. The invention further comprises a latching arm which, in cooperation with a plurality of dimples formed upon an outer surface of the inner telescoping member, restricts the sliding movement of the outer telescoping member relative to the inner telescoping member in at least one direction. When a towing device, fitted with the invention, is lifted, the telescoping assembly contracts. When the lifting motion is stopped, the invention suspends the towing device in the air, facilitating alignment and hitching by one person.

    • The trailer hitch has a base frame adapted to be carried by a vehicle and a hitch frame adapted to engage the base frame. A power liftable actuator is attached to the base frame and the hitch frame for raising and lowering the hitch frame to engage the tongue of a trailer. A vertically arranged connecting pin is also attached to the hitch frame and is adapted to be moved in a vertical path of travel from an elevated uncoupled position to a lowered coupled position. A power operable actuator is connected to the hitch frame and the connecting pin for moving the connecting pin from an elevated uncoupled position to a lowered coupled position. In addition, the trailer hitch has a horizontally swingable tongue guide positioned alongside the connecting pin and the hitch frame. The horizontally swingable tongue guide is adapted to guide the tongue of a trailer into proper position for being connected by the connecting pin. The horizontally swingable tongue guide includes a pair of guide plates convergently arranged that define an angle therebetween with the vertex of the angle being closely adjacent the path of travel of the connecting pin. Also, a spring is used to resiliently mount the pair of guide plates for unison horizontal swinging movement to thereby facilitate the guiding of the trailer tongue toward the vertex. A scoop is mounted vertically below and adjacent the horizontally swingable tongue guide for scooping the trailer tongue from the ground for engagement with the connecting pin.
