The first body (10) comprises an abutment surface (121) adapted for abutment with a lateral face of a foot of a rail. The first and second bodies comprise corresponding apertures (122, 112) for receiving the connector (9), one (122) of the apertures being oblong with a longer axis (150) extending in a direction oblique to the abutment surface, to enable the first body to assume different positions relative to the second body. The first and second bodies comprise first corresponding surfaces (123, 111) configured for providing force transmitting contact between the first and second bodies when assembled. The rail clip assembly is characterized in that the first and second bodies comprise second corresponding surfaces (124, 114) configured to enter into force transmitting engagement with each other upon fastening the assembly, which have an inclination at an angle between 20° and 85° relative to the horizontal, such that the engagement of the second surfaces with each other produces a net resulting force on the first body oriented towards the rail and resisting backing movement of the first body away from the lateral face of the rail foot upon fastening the connector.

    • The present application describes a rail clip assembly, particularly but not exclusively for securing a crane rail to a flanged girder. The assembly comprises a first part adapted to be attached to the rail support surface adjacent the rail, a second part overlying the first part and having a lateral surface for abutment with a lateral face of the rail, and a bolt for fixing the second part to the first part independently of attachment of the first part to the rail support surface. The parts have aligned apertures through which the bolt extends, one of the apertures being elongate to enable the second part to assume different positions relative to the first part. The elongate aperture extends in a direction inclined at an acute angle to the longitudinal direction of the rail. The first and second parts have cooperating laterally directed surfaces which are abutted in all relative positions of the parts for transmitting to the first part laterally directed forces applied to the second part by the rail. The laterally extending surfaces extend parallel to the direction of extent of the elongate aperture. The first part has parallel upper and lower surfaces and the second part has an upper surface which, adjacent the aperture, is inclined to the horizontal away from the direction of approach of the cooperating laterally directed surfaces to the rail. The bolt extends through the apertures in a direction perpendicular to the inclined surface of the second part and is thus inclined with respect to the vertical.

    • A rail mounting assembly is disclosed including clip members which is some cases have formable portions for effecting engagement with a base plate to retain the clip member in position on a crosstie with the base plates on opposite sides of the rail being connected by an anchor means extending internally of the crosstie. Another aspect of the invention involves clip members and base plates having engageable serrated surfaces clamped together by a bolt received in a threaded anchor in a concrete crosstie so that loosening and subsequent tightening of the bolt permits the adjustment of the clip members with respect to the radial base flange and another embodiment in which a clip is held in position by a bolt in the anchor member in the crosstie with the clip having a coined surface canted at an angle to accommodate rail tilt and sawtooth serrations engaging the bolt head for preventing loosening of the bolt member.

    • A unitized insulating element for use with a steel cross tie is provided. The insulating element is operative to electrically insulate the rail from the steel tie, from retaining elements associated with the tie which prevent lateral movement of the rail relative to the tie and from rail anchors which prevent longitudinal movement of the rail relative to the tie. The insulating element permits use of the rail as an on-line signal control conveying device when steel ties are used and is configured as a tie plate substitute from providing an inwardly-directed cant for the rail to be retained thereon.

    • A track rail anchorage comprises a base member having projection flanges projecting from the two ends thereof, either of which may be placed so as to locate over the flange of a rail to be located in position. The base is provided with asymmetrical mounting means so that when one projection flange in location with the rail flange is exchanged for the other, the position of the new projection flange relative to the rail will be displaced towards or away from the rail, thus catering for possible displacements of parts of the rail due to distortion defects. Additional adjustment of the anchorage position may be achieved by employing a variable, eccentric, mounting in the base to receive a mounting bolt fixed in the ground.
