摘要： A gapped or seamed cylindrical offset printing blanket having pre-made blanket material mounted on a cylindrical sleeve, and a method for making same, are disclosed, wherein conventional, manufactured blanket material in flat form made by methods known in the art is adhered to a cylindrical sleeve to economically produce a blanket. The leading and trailing ends of the flat blanket material are joined in close proximity such that a small gap is formed. A seam may be made with a filler material that fills the remaining gap resulting in a seamed sleeved blanket. In use, the seam is aligned with non-print area on the adjacent printing plate, or the adjacent plate cylinder gap of the printing press. Being narrower than the plate cylinder gap, no loss of print length results from the seam.

摘要： A printing press includes an interchangeable plate cylinder, in which the plate cylinder may have variable cutoff diameters. The plate cylinder is mounted in the printing press in rolling contact with a fixed diameter blanket cylinder. The ink rollers of the inker mechanism may be positionally adjusted to accommodate a plate cylinder of various diameters. The surface of the printing blanket which is mounted on the blanket cylinder includes a material of low polarity surface energy, such as PTFE. The ink used in the press is selected such that, in combination with the PTFE of the blanket surface, the ink does not remain as a latent image on the blanket cylinder after transfer of the image from the blanket cylinder to a web of material.

The material constituting the device is such that the material can be removed rapidly when the motifs are to be changed, and is such that new motifs can be constituted there immediately after the removal of those preceding them.

Specifically, on the peripheral surface of the cylindrical sleeve 21, the base layer 1, the compressible layer 2, the non-stretchable layer 3 and the surface printing layer 4 are laminated by interposing the adhesive layers 31, 32, 33 and 34, respectively. All of the above layers comprise a seamless elastomer. The non-stretchable layer 3 is prepared by winding a wire rod in helical fashion.

The leaf spring assembly is bent out of its zero-position and engages the support element at its second end portion, thereby applying a force to the support element for biasing the supplementary gear and the first gear to rotate in opposite directions.
