    • Agricultural implement to be conveyed by a self propelled vehicle includes a structural frame and a substructure moveable between a raised position and a lowered position. The substructure has at least one ground engaging tool supported thereon so as to engage the ground when the substructure is moved to the lowered position. A fluid circuit is provided to control engagement of the tool with the ground. The fluid circuit includes a first check valve having a first side connectable to a source of pressurized fluid flow and a second side connected to a fluid cylinder. The fluid cylinder is operated between a retracted position and an extended position to move the substructure between the raised position and the lowered position, respectively. A second check valve is provided having a first side connected to drain and a second side connected to the fluid cylinder. A sensor assembly opens the second check valve when pressurized fluid flow is received by the first side of the first check valve. A pressure relief valve is connected between the first check valve and the fluid cylinder, the pressure relief valve having a relief port in fluid communication with the first side of the second check valve to direct pressurized fluid thereto when the pressurized fluid between the second side of the first check valve and the fluid cylinder exceeds a preselected pressure.

    • An apparatus and method for preparing sites for planting tree seedlings, and more particularly establishing mounds on the ground surface formed of soil scooped from the ground. The apparatus may be of the pull type having a pair of scoops and scoop operators for moving the scoop through a ground penetrating and mound depositing cycle. A control times the cycling of the operations so that the mounds formed during a constant movement in the forward direction are arranged in two lines and wherein the mounds in the two lines may be in a staggered relationship. The apparatus has rear wheels and a front towbar. Actuators are provided for moving the wheels up or down relating to the frame and also moving the towbar so that the height, as well as the fore and aft tilt, of the frame relative to the ground can be varied to control the depth of penetration of the scoops. The wheels also have actuators which allows adjustment of the tread of the wheels.

    • Down pressure structure for providing an adjustable down force on a rig of row crop implement such as a cultivator includes an overcenter toggle connected to the rig for pivoting about a toggle axis between a first and second positions. The toggle has a protrusion that contacts the edge of a rig plate at two different locations corresponding to a light and a heavy down pressure position. A down pressure spring is tensioned between the frame and the toggle and maintains the toggle in a selected one of two overcenter positions corresponding to the two different spring tension positions. A hex projection on the toggle receives a conventional wrench for moving the toggle between the first and second positions. A second toggle and down pressure spring combination provide additional spring adjustments so that at a numerous easily determinable down pressure settings are available.

    • A hitchable and towable implement that is suitable for the attachment of various agricultural tooling and that is convertible between a laterally expanded use position and a laterally narrow transport position. The implement has a wheeled lower center section connectable to a towing tractor by an elongate tongue member. An upper center frame section rotates on the lower center section. Powered and hinged lift arms extend in opposite directions from the upper center section and attach to a pair of wing sections for raising and lowering the wing sections. The wing sections rotate with the lift arms and the upper center section about the lower center section. Rotation of the upper center section one quarter turn swings the wing sections between a lateral position with respect to the lower center frame section and the transport position in which the wing sections are fore and aft of the lower center section. In the use position, lift arms and wing sections are laterally positioned and lowered. The lower center section and wing sections each have attachment bars extending horizontally for the attachment of desired tooling. Hydraulic cylinders provide for the lifting of the wing sections and the rotation of the upper center portion. The raising, lowering and swinging can all be remotely controlled from a tow vehicle.
