    • A method of color-coding a blade and a bladed system is disclosed. The bladed system has a plurality of slots. In particular, the method facilitates selecting at least one slot for inserting therein the blade. One of a plurality of core colors is associated with each slot of the bladed system, whereas each core color indicates which type of blade can be inserted in the corresponding slot. One of the core colors is associated with the blade. In the bladed system, a slot which has an associated core color which matches the core color of the blade is selected. The blade is inserted in the selected slot.

    • A coding system for various I/O module elements of an I/O cabinet assembly is disclosed which is able to identify analog, digital and control I/O modules by appropriate functional representation combined with a distinct color code found on the front of each module and to identify appropriate internal field wiring connections in the identified module by the module identifying color. Each module has a written identification such as A—for analog, D—for digital and C—for control, I—for input, O—for output combined with an appropriate color bar identifying the type of module. Thus process and terminal blocks forming and I/O unit are easily matched for assembly and are easily inserted into an I/O cabinet in the proper location.

    • An arrangement for coding a plug-in space of a plug-in module in a module rack by using a layout of at least one coding pin and at least one associated coding hole. The coding hole has at least one holding bracket through which extends a fastening screw, and the module rack has at least one front profiled rail which has a longitudinal groove into which there is inserted a perforated strip having equidistant holes. The holding bracket has a receiver for the coding pin, which receiver has an internal polygon. The coding pin is displaceable within the receiver and has a corresponding external polygon. The coding pin is provided with a longitudinally extending coding rib at its shaft. Also provided is at least one coding plug which has at least one pin for the introduction into a hold of the perforated strip. The coding plug has the coding hole for the coding pin and a through hole for the fastening screw. The coding hold is provided with an edge recess for the coding rib.

    • A device for associative coding of printed circuit boards comprises a coding member comprising a central longitudinal member, attachment arms and a series of appendages the spacing between which is equal to the spacing between two board guide slideways. The front panel of each board incorporates a coding slot enabling an appendage to pass through it when the latter is aligned with the slot. The position of the coding slot is a characteristic common to all boards of a given family. After a first board is fitted into the subrack only other boards of the same family can be connected into the part of the subrack fitted with the coding member. This prevents the insertion into the same subrack or subrack compartment of boards from different and incompatible families although for a same product type and having the same functionality.
