    • The tests to be carried out are initiated at the central office by setting a test flip-flop which couples a test signal to the digital system. The test signal starts the subscriber end of the arrangement by activating a clock which clocks a divider chain which in turn drives two relays in the proper sequence to sequentially test the subscriber''s drop for a ground to either of the tip or ring conductors, a short between the tip and ring conductors and a foreign battery coupled to either of the tip or ring conductors. The relays connect the tip and ring conductors of the drop under test to the proper one of two tandem connected low pass filter and comparator circuits. Drop test logic stores the results of the individual test and applies them to the digital system for reporting back to the central office. When the results on the digital system are received at the central office, the test results are visually displayed. When the subscriber end finishes sending the test results, and end of test reset circuit resets the test flip-flop ending the test.

    • A method of providing multiple test access for test equipment in a communication network is provided. The method comprises the step of coupling test apparatus to a first communication line via a first communication circuit in the test apparatus wherein the first communication line has a first quantity of equal bandwidth communication pathways that are dedicated for test access. The first communication line is coupled to a first cross connect apparatus. The test apparatus also has a second communication circuit that is coupled to the first communication circuit. The method further comprises the step of utilizing a second communication line having a second quantity of equal bandwidth communication pathways that are dedicated for test access. The second communication line is coupled between the first cross connect apparatus and a second cross connect apparatus. The second quantity is less than the first quantity. The method further comprises the step of controlling the test apparatus to initiate a test procedure wherein the second communication circuit initiates a test of network facilities associated with the second cross connect apparatus.

    • This invention generally relates to the arrangements for testing subscriber loops. The invention is based on a solution wherein a test head is behind the high-pass filter of the splitter. In order that this solution is possible, the splitter, i.e. the splitter box has to contain a relay and a relay control element. When a subscriber line is to be tested the test head sends a DC pulse to the relay control element, which directs the relay to connect the subscriber loop to bypass wirings through which the test head can perform necessary testing measurements. When the testing is over the relay control element directs the relay to switch back for connecting the subscriber loop to the common port of the filters.
