During a first use of the channel, the vectors of the first block and the vectors of the second block are input to the first and to the second FBMC modulation channels respectively, in the order of the temporal sequence. During a second use of the channel, the vectors of the first and second blocks are multiplied by a factor jL 1 respectively and −(jL 1) input to the second and to the first FBMC modulation channels respectively, in the inverse order of the temporal sequence.

摘要： A resource block (RB)-based multicarrier modulation (MCM) transmitter and receiver structure for spectral agile systems are disclosed. The transmitter and the receiver are capable of sharing opportunistically available and non-contiguous channels with other users. The RB-MCM partitions the available spectrum, contiguous or non-contiguous, into multiple RBs (same or different sizes), applies a baseband MCM or single carrier modulation, or coded single carrier or multicarrier schemes in each RB with a type of spectral leakage reduction technique, and applies RB modulation for each RB to modulate the signal from baseband to the frequency band of that RB. At the receiver, the received signal may be filtered and RB demodulation may be applied to put each RB signal in baseband and a baseband multicarrier or single carrier or coded single carrier or coded multicarrier demodulation may be applied to each RB signal. Different RBs may use different modulation schemes.

Each sequence in the set of sequences has a length equal to the number of resources shared among the group of layers. At least a portion of the sequences have a low density of non-zero values, and the non-zero values are assigned to a subset of the shared resources. Each sequence assigns a non-zero value to at most one resource of the subset of shared resources, and all non-zero values assigned by all sequences have equal power amplitudes.

An encoded data sequence is transformed and used to shape a multi-carrier pulse to create a narrow-band signal for transmission. Time domain tails of the narrow-band signal may be removed to decrease overhead. The data may be first encoded to create a sparse modulated data sequence. Multi-carrier pulse shaping may be carried out using frequency division multiplexing (FDM) or filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) techniques. Alternatively, single carrier pulse shaping may be used to create the narrow-band signal.
