    • A method and apparatus for configuring a variable filter in an OFDM transmitter based on the number of subcarrier frequencies selected for the input data block is described herein. An exemplary OFDM transmitter comprises a control unit, OFDM modulator, and variable filter. The control unit selects the number of subcarriers for the input data block, and configures one or more filter properties for the variable filter based on the selected number of subcarriers. The modulator, which has a size greater than the selected number of subcarriers, pads an input data block generated for the selected number of subcarriers to generate an expanded data block having a size equal to the size of the modulator, and modulates the expanded data block to generate an OFDM signal. The filter, as configured by the control unit, filters the OFDM signal.

    • A signal detecting method and device for a multi-codeword multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system are provided, which are used in the field of communication and solve the problem that it is complex to implement a signal detecting method in the multi-codeword MIMO system and the error between the signal obtained through detection and the signal actually transmitted from the transmitting end is large.     • A filtering method, system, and equipment applied in digital communication technologies are disclosed in the embodiments of the present invention. The filtering method of the present embodiments includes: acquiring filtering coefficients of a part of all subcarriers according to data transmission errors; acquiring filtering coefficients of remaining subcarriers through an interpolation algorithm according to the filtering coefficients of the part of subcarriers; and finally, filtering the data corresponding to the multiple subcarriers according to the filtering coefficients of the part of subcarriers and the filtering coefficients of the remaining subcarriers. The part of subcarriers may be selected at a regular interval, or may be subcarriers which are located at a motion value away from the part of subcarriers selected in the previous update of the filtering coefficients.     • Techniques for deriving and using noise estimate for data reception in a wireless communication system are described. A noise estimate may be derived for each packet received in a data transmission. Data detection may then be performed for each packet using the noise estimate for that packet. For noise estimation, a first sample sequence and a second sample sequence may be obtained from each receiver used for data reception. A phase offset between the first and second sample sequences may be determined and applied to the first sample sequence for each receiver to obtain a third sample sequence for that receiver. A noise estimate may then be derived based on the power of the differences between the second and third sample sequences for the at least one receiver.
