    • The present disclosure provides a mobile terminal, which comprises a charging port, a power management unit (PMU), a battery, and a charging surge protection circuit disposed between the charging port and the PMU. The charging surge protection circuit comprises a low-pass filtering circuit, a switch control circuit, a diode and a first resistor. The low-pass filtering circuit has an input terminal connected to an output terminal of the charging port, and an output terminal connected to a first input terminal of the PMU. The switch control circuit has a first input terminal connected to the low-pass filtering circuit, a second input terminal connected to an output terminal of the PMU, and an output terminal connected to the first resistor via the diode. The first resistor is connected to an anode of the battery, and a cathode of the battery is grounded.

    • The present disclosure is directed to a surge limiting circuit electrically coupleable between a power source and a downstream component. The surge limiting circuit may include a transistor configured to operate in each of a first mode that allows an electric current to flow through the transistor, a second mode that cuts off an electric current from flowing through the transistor, and a third mode that only partially allows an electric current to flow through the transistor while partially cutting off the electric current. The surge limiting circuit may further include a control circuit coupled to the transistor and configured to control operation of the transistor in response to an electrical voltage at the transistor's output. The control circuit may further be configured to repeatedly cycle between controlling operation of the transistor in the first mode and the second mode such that the transistor operates in the third mode.

    • An electrical wiring system/method implementing transient voltage suppression is disclosed. The system/method incorporates HOT, NEUTRAL, GROUND wiring in conjunction with a series drop resistor (SDR) on the HOT conductor that supplies current to the load device. Parallel shunting metal oxide varistors (MOVs) are used in conjunction with corresponding shunt diode rectifiers (SDRs) to suppress transients on the HOT conductor to either the GROUND conductor and/or NEUTRAL conductor. The parallel shunting MOV/SDR pairs may be integrated into a singular structure that is encapsulated in an insulating material to permit implementation of the transient protection wiring system/method into electrical loads and common power distribution equipment such as electrical outlets and power strips.
