    • A circuit for protection against overvoltages includes an input side to which an input voltage can be applied, an output side at which an output voltage can be tapped, an overvoltage protection element which is connected in parallel with the input side and which is configured to, when an overvoltage pulse occurs at the input side, conduct at least part of the overvoltage pulse away via a first current path, and a protective transistor which is connected in parallel with the output side.     • Disclosed are a high-voltage protection circuit, a high-voltage protection method and a power supply. The high voltage protection circuit comprises a main relay, an auxiliary relay, a first resistor, a second resistor, a first capacitor and a second capacitor, wherein one end of the main relay is connected to the input port of a live line, and the other end thereof is connected to the output port of the live line; one end of the auxiliary relay is connected to the input port of the live line, and the other end thereof is connected between the first resistor and the second resistor; one end of the first capacitor is connected to the output port of the live line, and the other end thereof is connected to a neutral line parallel to the live line; the second capacitor is connected to both ends of the main relay in parallel; and the second resistor and the first resistor are connected between the input port and the output port of the live line in series in sequence. The present invention can effectively solve the problem that quick recovery cannot be achieved in an energy-saving mode, so that the system achieves high efficiency and energy saving, and can ensure high-voltage protection in an energy-saving mode through the bridge connection of the second capacitor to both ends of the main relay, and the adjustment of the capacitance values of the first capacitor and the second capacitor.

    • There is provided an integration of the leakage current functions of an RCD and the voltage sensing functions of other prior art protection devices. By integrating the two capabilities into one decision making system/algorithm, and considering the circuits performance in terms of leakage current as it correlated with elevated protective earth voltages (and vice versa), an embodiment is created which is able to “look into” a protected electrical system and make much more precise and discerning decisions on electrical status and probability of unsafe events.     • A balun includes an input coil and an output coil with first and second outputs that vary during normal operation. The output coil has a center point connection that remains substantially constant during normal operation. An ESD circuit provides a low impedance path between the center point connection and chip ground when the voltage at the center point connection is above a first threshold voltage or below a second threshold voltage and isolates the center point connection from chip ground otherwise. Another ESD protection circuit provides ESD protection for other input or output terminals of the integrated circuit by selectively coupling the other input or output terminals to chip ground. Thus, a charge that builds up between one of the balun outputs and another terminal on the integrated circuit can be safely dissipated.
