    • Embodiments of the invention include a method, a system, and a mobile device that incorporate augmented reality technology into land surveying, 3D laser scanning, and digital modeling processes. By incorporating the augmented reality technology, the mobile device can display an augmented reality image comprising a real view of a physical structure in the real environment and a 3D digital model of an unbuilt design element overlaid on top of the physical structure at its intended tie-in location. In an embodiment, a marker can be placed at predetermined set of coordinates at or around the tie-in location, determined by surveying equipment, on that the 3D digital model of the unbuilt design element can be visualized in a geometrically correct orientation with respect to the physical structure. Embodiments of the present invention can also be applied to a scaled down 3D printed object representing the physical structure if visiting the project site is not possible.

    • A method for document discovery includes receiving a scan of a physical copy of a document with a non-text object, determining a tag for the non-text object defining a portion of the non-text object in an original file, and generating, based on the tag, non-text object metadata with composition information of the non-text object. The method further includes searching, using the non-text object metadata, electronic documents stored in a data repository, where each of the electronic documents has an object and searchable metadata associated with the object, comparing the non-text object metadata with the searchable metadata, and providing a location of the original file to a user when the non-text object metadata matches the searchable metadata.

    • A document processing system allows specifying disposition of a paper document at the time a reservation for the document is created in the document processing system. Quality assurance processing after scanning assures all needed processing is performed for the paper document and the corresponding electronic document. Once the quality assurance processing is complete, the disposition of the paper document is scheduled according to the specified disposition policy for the paper document. When the specified disposition policy for a document indicates the document needs to be destroyed, a user scans the unique identifier on the physical document at a first location, receives verification the document should be destroyed, and places the document in a container for documents to be destroyed.
