    • The present invention relates to a process for adhering a preformed polymer liner to the surface of a pipe by induction heating the pipe. The liner may comprise a fluoropolymer. The liner may be applied either to the interior surface or the exterior surface of the pipe. The invention is particularly useful for adhering a liner to the interior surface of an oil well pipe. Thus with the induction heating process of present invention, it is possible to adhere a preformed liner to the interior surface of an oil well pipe which is capable of reducing-to-eliminating the deposition (buildup) of one or more of the asphaltenes, paraffin wax, and inorganic scale on the interior surface of the oil pipe. Preferably, this reduction is at least 40%, preferably at least 50% or more, for at least one of these materials as compared to the unlined oil pipe, and more preferably at least 40% for all of them. In one preferred embodiment of the process, the peel strength of the preformed liner adhered to the surface of the pipe is at least ten pounds force per inch (10 lbf/in). In other preferred embodiments of the process, either a primer or an adhesive aid is used in adhering the preformed liner to the surface of the pipe.

    • Apparatus for driving a flexible composite liner into an existing pipe in an excavation comprises contra-rotating wheels for driving flexible liner therebetween and into a guide tube extending between the driving wheels and the existing pipe. The guide tube forms a curved path to align the liner with the existing pipe. A port is formed in a linear portion of the guide tube enables insertion and connection of an optional inflexible bullet to the leading end of the flexible liner. The drive wheels are preferably assisted by transverse guide wheels. The existing pipe is exposed in an excavation. A trailer with the drive wheels is positioned adjacent the excavation, a guide tube is installed to extend between the trailer and the existing pipe forming a curved path, a spool of flexible liner is provided and driven through the guide tube to be aligned with and inserted into the existing pipe.

    • A surface of a canal, ditch or pipe is lined with a polyurethane/geofabric composite. A non-sagging polyurethane composition is applied to the canal, ditch or pipe surface, a geofabric is contacted with that surface in a manner such that the geofabric becomes impregnated with the non-sagging polyurethane composition which cures to form a polyurethane/geofabric composite. The non-sagging polyurethane is a reaction product of a polyisocyanate, a high molecular weight polyhydroxyl compound and a compound having at least 2 amino groups. A low molecular weight diol or triol, filler and catalyst are optional components. These composites are particularly useful in lining cracked or broken concave or angled surfaces.
