    • A valve assembly that generally includes a valve body defining an inlet, an outlet and a fluid flow path between the inlet and the outlet, a valve seat disposed in the fluid flow path of the valve body between the inlet and the outlet, a disc movably supported in the valve body between an open position and a closed position, an actuating mechanism for selectively moving the disc between the open position and the closed position and a valve trim provided on the disc. The valve trim defines a plurality of apertures providing a semi-tortuous fluid flow path for modifying fluid flow through the valve trim when the disc is in the open position. When the disc is engaged with the valve seat in its closed position, the apertures are blocked to close the fluid flow path.

    • A discharge valve including a tubular, valve seat and a valve guide disposed above the valve seat. The valve guide has a discharge passage plug and a guide rod that is affixed to, and projects downwardly from, the bottom of the plug. The valve guide also has an interiorly threaded, lifting sleeve that is affixed to, and projects upwardly from, the top of the plug. A piston is disposed between the valve seat and the valve guide. The piston has a conical, head portion for engaging the top of the valve seat, and a stem portion that is affixed to, and extends upwardly from, the head portion. The stem portion has a longitudinal socket within which the guide rod is slidably received. The stem portion also has a number of apertures that intersect the socket for providing pressure relief to the socket. A compressed spring is disposed between the valve guide and the head portion of the piston for normally retaining the head portion in engagement with the valve seat. An externally threaded, valve retainer is disposed above the valve guide for pressing the valve guide toward the valve seat.

    • The system according to the invention for producing cement clinkers from raw cement mix is composed substantially of a pre-warmer for pre-warming the raw cement mix, a calcination device for pre-calcining the pre-warmed raw cement mix, a sintering kiln for firing the pre-calcined raw cement mix to form cement clinkers, and a cooler for cooling the fired cement clinker. Additionally provided between the cooler and the calcination device is a tertiary air line via which tertiary air is supplied to the calcination device. The calcination device is additionally traversed by the waste gases of the sintering kiln and has a calcining nozzle in its inlet region. Also provided are means for setting the cross section of the calcining nozzle, which means are formed by at least one element which is arranged in a rotatable or pivotable fashion in order to set the cross section and which is exposed to the waste gases of the sintering kiln.

    • A stator has a cylindrical bore. A cylindrical rotor fits in the bore with a clearance. A circumferential groove varying in depth is formed around the circumference of the rotor. Ball bearings support the rotor for rotation in spaced relationship from the bore without a seal. Axially elongated inlet and outlet slots are formed in the stator so as to communicate with the groove at circumferentially spaced points. Vent holes lead from the bore to the exterior of the stator between the inlet and outlet and the ball bearings. The valve is coupled by first and second legs of a tee connection to a patient. A third leg of the tee connection is connected by a needle valve to a vacuum source.

    • A novel plug valve assembly is described having improved leak-resistance under high pressures. It includes a housing with inlet and outlet ports and a cylindrical valve chamber. Cylindrical valve sealing members are slidably mounted in the ports, each sealing member having a main body portion with a concave end face portion adjacent the valve chamber and an axial bore extending therethrough. The main body portion has an annular recess on the cylindrical surface thereof extending from the concave end to an annular abutment intermediate the length of the main body portion. A generally tubular resilient collar is slidably mounted on the recessed portion of the main body, this collar having a thickness substantially equal to the depth of the recess and having a concave end portion protruding beyond the concave end of the main body portion. A cylindrical valve member having a transverse port therethrough is positioned within the chamber in resiliently sealing engagement with the concave end portions of the sealing member resilient collars, and resiliently supported for rotation by a lower valve seat and an upper valve seat and sealing means, e.g. "O" ring means mounted in annular grooves formed at the top and bottom edges of said valve member, such that the "O" ring means engage both a cylindrical side wall and an end wall of the chamber and an end wall of the valve member.

    • This invention relates to a vacuum valve having a hollow body formed of a resilient material and a valve means securely positioned at the center of the valve body in a seat integral with the body. The body is divided into two parts, being connected to a vacuum source at one end and an ampule at the other. The valve means alternately closes and opens this connection to the vacuum source in the manner common to valves. The valve further has openings connecting the ampule end of the valve body to the ambient air pressure, allowing release of the ampule without undue turbulence. The body has grooves in its interior walls, two on the ampule side and one on the side of the vacuum source, to enable the valve body to accept different sizes of ampules and connections without deforming and the subsequent loss of vacuum.
