    • A wheel fastener comprises a nut including a central axis, an enlarged head, a cylindrical collar extending axially from the head, and an internal bore extending having internal threads, wherein the head includes an annular inner engagement surface that is a planar surface normal to the central axis. The wheel fastener further comprises a washer permanently mounted on the collar to be rotatable relative to the nut about the central axis but confined against axial movement along the collar. The washer includes an annular outer engagement surface arranged to face the inner engagement surface of the nut head for engagement therewith, wherein the outer engagement surface of the washer is a planar surface normal to the central axis. The length of the nut collar is adapted depending upon intended use in either a single-wheel or dual wheel assembly. Anti-theft embodiments include a torque-slipping cap around the head of the nut.

    • A take-up fastener is disclosed for fastening a level in a frame construction to the level below so as to resist upward forces generated by wind and other sources on the framed construction. The take-up fastener in general includes a take-up plate, or washer, fastened to a portion of the upper level and a take-up screw fit through the take-up plate and fastened to the adjacent level below. Once the take-up fastener is fully assembled, the take-up plate includes a pair of tabs which are capable of engaging threads on a take-up screw in a way that allows one-way motion of the take-up screw relative to the take-up plate. In particular, the take-up plate can move downward relative to the take-up screw, for example on constricting of the wooden members to which the take-up plate is affixed. However, the engagement between the take-up plate and take-up screw prevents movement of the take-up plate upward with respect to the take-up screw, for example upon an upward load due to wind or other external force.

    • A combination mounting ring of resilient material, for connecting a shaft within a bore of a housing, has a hollow cylindrical part having radially extending projections. This part is for locating between the outer surface of the shaft and the inner surface of the bore, the radially extending projections being under compression and thus securing the shaft within the bore. The combination mounting ring further has an axial spring element extending radially inward from the cylindrical part and having two portions at different axial positions.     • According to the present invention, a thermally conductive ring for a wheel assembly, which is inserted over a stud bolt that fixes a brake drum or disc of a vehicle to a wheel, is provided with a cylindrical main body having a cutaway portion in the lengthwise direction, and a heat-dissipating portion formed on at least one side of a surface and edge of the main body to increase the surface area. The thermally conductive ring of a wheel assembly facilitates the transfer of heat generated during braking and driving to the wheels and enables heat dissipation, to retain the initial design specifications of the vehicle while reducing the uneven wear of tires and one side brake, and improving cornering and ride quality.
