摘要： Disclosed is a lithographic printing method which performs lithographic printing with emulsion ink as it is supplied from an ink fountain which is a reservoir of the emulsion ink to a lithographic printing plate, comprising the steps of: computing amounts of consumption of ink and aqueous components of the emulsion ink on the basis of a percent image area of the lithographic printing plate; and replenishing the ink fountain with at least one member of the group consisting of the ink component, the aqueous component and the emulsion ink in accordance with the computed amounts of consumption of the ink and aqueous components. By the lithographic printing method of the present invention, the problems that accompany the process of lithographic printing with emulsion ink, such as scumming which results from high consumption of the aqueous component, as well as faint image density, waterlogging due to over-emulsification and the like which result from low consumption of the aqueous component can be prevented and one can produce high-quality printed matter that is free from any deterioration in image quality on account of those problems.

During printing operation, each surface areas of the rotating cylinder continuously undergo the cycle of coating, imagewise exposure, optionally developing, inking, printing of inked imaging to the receiving medium, and optionally erasing processes. The developing means can be omitted if an ink and/or fountain solution developable photosensitive layer is used. In an alternative design, the cylinder is replaced with a continuous supply of a ribbon with lithographic substrate surface. In another alternative design, the cylinder and the coater are replaced with a continuous supply of a pre-sensitized ribbon comprising on a substrate a photosensitive layer.

摘要： A method of color printing on packaging containers using transparent colors is described. The method is limited to the use of no more than two of the primary process colors. For many images primary process colors are not needed at all. Preferably, only two transparent inks will be used. In some cases an opaque ink may be applied first as a masking image underlying a part or all of the transparent ink overprint. In other cases the opaque ink may be applied last as a masking print over part of the image. The method can be used on any substrate color but it is particularly useful on dyed papers or unbleached kraft brownboard. While color reproduction is not totally accurate, nor is this expected in a colorimetric sense, surprisingly attractive and realistic images generally faithful to the original are attainable.

摘要： Separate air curtains of low pressure, high flow volume air are discharged onto the leading inking form roller on the feeder side and onto the trailing inking form roller on the delivery side of the plate cylinder to evaporate water entrained with the ink and which has migrated from the printing plate to the inking form rollers as a result of uneven application of water to the plate cylinder. A pair of elongated distribution manifolds are mounted on the press in proximity to the inking form rollers, one manifold directing a curtain of air onto the inking form roller and adjacent vibrator roller on the feeder side, and the other manifold directing a curtain of air onto the inking form roller and adjacent vibrator roller on the delivery side of the plate cylinder. Gap streak caused by periodic interruption in the transfer of dampening solution to the printing plate is eliminated by the dual air curtains which evaporate dampening solution picked up from the printing plate by the inking form rollers before the excess dampening solution has an opportunity to infiltrate the inking roller train.
