    • A method sets the inking in a printing press with multiple ink zones in an inking unit of a printing unit. The method includes: printing a test form onto a printing substrate with an intentional pre-defined color deviation from the intended target color; correcting the previously set ink setting and the defined set color deviation with regard to the respective target value in the wet condition of the printing substrate by a color measuring device; and taking color measurements of the dried printing substrate using the color measuring device. The measured color values established in the dry state and the original of the test form in a computer are compared. The ink setting that belongs to the ink zone with the smallest deviation from the intended target color is used as the target ink setting for the printing process.

    • A method of colour setting in a rotary printing press, in which a composition of an ink is adjusted until colour specifications of a printed product, that is formed by a substrate with the ink printed thereon, match given target colour specifications, including the steps of measuring (S1) a volume carrying capacity of an inking roller that will be used in the printing press for printing with the ink, measuring (S2) a spectral opacity of the substrate, measuring (S3) a spectral absorptivity of the ink when it is in a liquid state in the printing press; and entering the measured volume carrying capacity, spectral opacity and spectral absorptivity into a mathematical model (S4) for predicting the colour specifications of the printed product.

    • A system for checking the loading of a print form magazine, which stores at least two print forms, utilizes at least one code reader to read a code which is carried by the print forms. The code reader reads the coding of the printing forms in a secondary region. The coding of at least two printing forms, which are arranged adjacently, horizontally or vertically together, is read by the code reader. The code reader has an image sensor and an illumination system for lighting the secondary region. A system is also provided for transporting at least one print form stored in the print form magazine to a cylinder. An analytical unit can be connected to the code reader, or to another registration device, and stores information regarding the transport of each printing form, that is stored in the print form magazine, to the cylinder. The analytical unit that may be connected to the code reader is provided with a signaling device.
