摘要： Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for constructing a shoe sole. Specifically, among other things, embodiments of the present invention provide a method for constructing a shoe sole including adhering an outsole to a midsole. The outsole is formed from an outsole compound. The outsole compound includes an organic compound, a porous material, and an adhesion enhancer. The organic compound has a boiling point greater than 120° C. The porous material has a specific surface area greater than two square meters per gram. The organic compound is supported on the porous material. The adhesion enhancer eliminates the need for buffing the outsole when forming the outsole from the outsole compound.

摘要： Disclosed herein is a composite structure for deflecting and spreading kinetic energy transmission after various types of impacts utilizing foam structures having graded properties. The structure has a first composite layer, composed of a discrete reinforcement and a continuous binder. The helmet receives contact of an object that transfers kinetic energy to a first composite layer. The helmet uses a second composite layer adjacent to the first composite layer designed such that the second composite layer compresses and expands into an expansion zone in the second composite layer. The second composite layer has expansion structures with a graded modulus such that the material at the tip of an expansion structure has a low modulus and the modulus in the expansion structure increases as it moves from the tip to the base of the expansion structure.

摘要： A method and apparatus for generating thermal energy (heat) from human locomotion is proposed and used to provide heating of the user's footwear. The apparatus takes the form of a pair of flexible, liquid-filled chambers connected by an energy-generating tube. One chamber is located in the heel region of a footwear insole, with the other in the toe region, such that as a person walks, the liquid moves back and forth within the tube. This movement is used to also move an energy-producing element (either an electromagnetic arrangement or viscous liquid) back and forth within the tube and convert the captured human locomotion energy into thermal energy, thus warming the footwear.
