    • A compact, light and highly efficient gas regenerator unit for a positive pressure closed circuit rebreathing apparatus having an improved carbon dioxide scrubber contained within an annular frame to the lower open portion of which a spring loaded flexible diaphragm is sealingly connected around its periphery and across the upper portion of which a cover plate is releasably attachable with the interior of the unit within the frame being divided by a transversely extending partition into a gas conditioning chamber, in which the CO.sub.2 of the wearer's expelled breath gases are removed by passing through chemicals compressively retained in the canister of a scrubber extending across the span of the gas conditioning chamber, and a variable volume gas chamber above diaphragm from which the reconditioned gases that have been enriched with a predetermined amount of oxygen are again inhaled. A valving arrangement operated by movement of the spring loaded diaphragm will maintain a positive pressure within the system and add additional oxygen to the variable volume chamber when excess oxygen is being consumed by the wearer or vent excess gases from the chamber when oxygen consumption decreases. An anti-anoxia valve prevents the wearer from breathing into the unit until oxygen is being released into the unit. The design of the reconditioning gas chambers and passages, including the CO.sub.2 scrubber, establishes a uniform flow of breathing gases through the scrubber and the unit with a minimum pressure drop.

    • A T-headed pin for use in rivetless chain, generally of the trolley conveyor type, is disclosed. The pin can entirely replace the conventional forged pin of any ordinary size and has superior design matching abilities. It is unique in that it is constructed entirely from a flat piece of sheet metal. Rectangular metal blanks with paired oppositely projecting tabs are provided. The blank is first curled to form the body of the pin with the tabs projecting endwise therefrom. In automated manufacture of chain of the type mentioned in selected lengths, the links may be readily assembled with curled pins having tabs projecting axially from both ends. The tabs may then be bent as required to complete the chain length. Alternatively, the tabs at one end only may be bent and lengths of chain may be readily assembled by inserting the other end of each pin into place and then bending the tabs at said other end. In the manufacture of the pins separately of chain assembly, the curled pin with projecting tabs is supported between two members of the exact width required between the T-heads of the finished pin. Opposite curling tools then move toward the tabs and form them in a sequence of steps which prevents or reduces tearing of the metal of the edges of the tabs where they merge into a curled portion forming the pin. Alternatively, the tabs may be bent prior to curling or partially bent prior to curling followed by a complete bending.

    • A hinged gate and flexible loading seal for an inclined conveyor, more particularly for an inclined apron conveyor with pushers for carrying loose, bulk material. The pushers, longitudinally spaced either in staggered arrangement across the conveyor surface or each fully traversing the conveyor width, reduce gross downward movement of the material during conveyor ascent. A segmental gate is hinged above the conveyor in the vicinity of transfer from an unloading conveyor, allows upward passage of the pushers and interrupts downward movement of conveyed material. A flexible, resilient seal fixed above the conveyor and positioned downstream of the hinged gate prevents further downward retreat of escaping conveyed material and redeposits same upstream on advancing pushers.

    • Power transmission systems having a movable member presenting variable load conditions on a motor connected thereto by means of a power transmission device are monitored by load sensing means. Sensed signals are processed to produce visual display conditions and corresponding control signals for selected motor loading parameters. The system accurately and simply measures and displays load conditions in flexible calibrated scale factor and digital form reducing possibilities of human readout error. No wiring or mechanical connections are necessary in the power train and reliable, sensitive output signals are produced with simple and miniature retrofittable electronic processing circuits. Alarm signals exceeding predetermined threshold load levels are stored digitally in a flip-flop circuit or equivalent relay for memory and control of external devices. Thus, the display form includes calibrated analog metering scale and digital memory type data processing devices permitting monitoring to correct system operating conditions when the motor is overloaded. Thus, the power transmission system can operate with motor ratings substantially equal to or less than expected full load conditions to substantially reduce initial equipment cost and operating expenses over equipment life.
