    • An original transport device for use with an electrophotographic copying apparatus or the like comprises a first drive transmission means for operating a sheet original transport unit removably mounted to the copying machine adjacent to the slit portion thereof, and a second drive transmission means for moving an original carriage. The first and second drive transmission means are driven from a drive source in the copying apparatus. The sheet original transport unit, when mounted, is actuated by receiving the drive from the first drive transmission means. The original carriage is movable by the second drive transmission means when the sheet original transport unit is removed from the copying apparatus.

    • In a shutter control, a photoresistive element whose resistance varies non-linearly with changes in incident light forms part of a voltage divider with a variable resistor. The voltage divider contacts the output of a meter. The resistor, in turn, forms part of an RC circuit that controls the timing of a shutter. Through a movable contact arm, the photoresistive element contacts one of a series of equally spaced tabs that connect to the resistor in a non-linear sequence corresponding to the non-linearity of the photoresistive element. Through a second movable contact arm, the capacitor contacts one of a second series at equally spaced taps that connect to the resistor in a second non-linear sequence. The second sequence corresponds in non-linearity to the non-linearity of a succession of shutter speed adjustments. Adjustments of the shutter speed moves both arms simultaneously so that when the meter reads a predetermined value, the shutter speed corresponds to the light conditions. Adjustment of the film speed marker moves only the second arm.

    • An electrophotographic copying apparatus having a photosensitive drum is provided with an assembly for feeding transfer material, an image transfer roller, and a fixing assembly all located upwardly of the drum, while a brush developer assembly, wholesurface exposure lamp, primary charging and contemporaneous secondary-charging exposure electrodes, and cleaning assembly are provided generally downwardly of the drum. The transfer roller and cleaning assembly are mounted on a movable frame structure which when moved away from a central frame structure permits access to and removal of the drum. A transport mechanism for an original has an adjustable path selector for recirculating an original upon insertion and expelling the original after the second traverse. The number of traverses is determined by a rotary cam. A dust-proof chamber encloses a completely independent optical assembly for projecting the image from the original onto the drum. The brush developer assembly has an adjustable cam controlled drive for a developer feed roller which supplies a fur brush transfer roller. The cleaning assembly includes a longitudinally fluted roller for wiping the drum and an axially oriented brush for cleaning the fluted roller.
