摘要： Scrambling is performed without deteriorating the quality of an image encoded by an MPEG method and in which the MPEG standard is used as it is. When a digital image signal formed of a luminance signal and color-difference signals is formed into an encoded signal by an MPEG encoding method, this signal is scrambled by giving a predetermined phase angle to the color-difference signals, the scrambled image signal is MPEG-encoded, a signal for identifying the phase angle is generated, and the at least MPEG-encoded image signal and the signal for identifying the phase angle are multiplexed and output. Thus, scrambling can be performed without changing the MPEG method.

摘要： A method and apparatus for encoding signals so as to form a multiplexed signal and for decoding the same. The apparatus may include an encoding unit and a decoding unit. The encoding unit may include a device for encoding a dynamic image signal so as to form a video bit stream, a device for encoding superimposed data so as to form bit map data, a device for encoding the bit map data and coordinates of a plurality of regions so as to form a bit stream of each respective region, a device for encoding the bit stream of each of the regions and coordinates of a page layer so as to form a bit stream of a page layer. The page layer specifies information indicative of start and end positions of a plurality of regions such that each of the regions are within a display area, and a device for multiplexing the bit stream of the page layer and the video bit stream. The decoding unit may include a device for separating the multiplexed bit stream into the video bit stream and the superimposed data bit stream, a device for decoding the video bit stream so as to form the dynamic image signal, a device receiving the superimposed data bit stream for obtaining coordinates of a page layer, coordinates of a plurality of regions and bit map data therefrom and for decoding the bit map data, a device for selecting one of the decoded bit map data and the dynamic image signal, and a control device.

摘要： Mismatch errors occur in the local decoder of a MPEG-standard compressor for a motion picture signal, and in an MPEG-standard expander for a compressed motion picture signal. This is because of the lack of a standard for rounding results of *.5 (* is an integer) obtained when a set of transform coefficients resulting from compressing the motion picture signal is inversely orthogonally transformed. The invention prevents mismatch errors by pre-processing the set of transform coefficients prior to the inverse orthogonal transform. The transform coefficients in the set are summed, and the parity (odd or even) of the sum is judged. When the parity of the sum is judged to be even, the parity of one of the transform coefficients in the set is inverted to provide a parity-inverted transform coefficient. This makes the parity of the sum odd. Then, when the set of transform coefficients including the parity-inverted transform coefficient is inversely orthogonally transformed, none of the results of the orthogonal transform will have a value of *.5.
