    • A semiconductor radiation detector has a plurality of semiconductor cells arrayed in a matrix parallel to the X-Y plane. A plurality of common electrodes for applying an operating voltage to the semiconductor cells are arranged perpendicularly to the X-Y plane. A plurality of signal electrodes for reading out signals from the semiconductor cells are arranged perpendicularly to the X-Y plane. According to a feature of this invention, each common electrode is shared by a pair of semiconductor cells adjacent in the X direction, and each signal electrode is shared by a pair of semiconductor cells adjacent in the X direction. With this arrangement, the dead zone can be reduced to increase the pixel density, in other words, the spatial resolution. If the pixel density is kept unchanged, the sensible zone of the semiconductor cell can be widened to increase the detection sensitivity.

    • A SPECT apparatus for forming a radioisotope distribution topographic image of an object, in which a detector such as a fan beam collomator detects fan beam shaped gamma ray emitted from a radioisotope given to the object to provide fan beam data, while a scanner causes relative rotation between the object and the detecter, and a data collector collects the fan beam data, and in which a data converter successively converts the fan beam data into parallel beam data during the relative rotation, and a reconstructor reconstructs a tomographic image from the parallel beam data. The fan beam data having a first matrix size and a first angle may be converted into the parallel beam data having a second matrix size and a second angle which are different from the first matrix size and the first angle, respectively.

    • A single photon emission computerized tomographic (SPECT) image acquiring method in which a fan-beam collimator radiation emitted from a radio isotope (RI) supplied into a biological body under medical examination is received with employment of a gamma camera, including the steps of: acquiring first projection image data by receiving via the fan-beam collimator radiation emitted from a reference isotope source; processing the first projection image data to obtain first correction data; acquiring second projection image data by receiving via the fan-beam collimator the radiation emitted from the radio isotope injected into the biological body; correcting the second projection image data with the first correction data so as to obtain third projection image data from which an artifact component has been eliminated; and, reconstructing a SPECT image of the biological body free from the artifact component based upon the third projection image data.

    • A scintillation camera apparatus includes a scintillation camera which generates X and Y position signals representing a detection position of gamma rays radiated from an object to be examined and a Z signal representing the energy level of the gamma rays, and an image memory for storing data indicating the detection frequency of the Z signal having an energy exceeding a predetermined level at a location accessed by the X and Y position signals. A first compensation table for compensating for the nonlinearity of the X and Y position signals and a second compensation table for the Z signal are provided for compensating for the X, Y, and Z signals to be supplied to the image memory. For compensating a change with time in gains of the photomultipliers, a data memory is provided for storing an energy spectrum of gamma rays in a real time manner. The peak valve position of the energy spectrum is calculated based on the data stored in the data memory. If the peak valve position changes, the content of the second compensation table is rewritten in accordance with the shifting of the peak valve position of the energy spectrum.
