    • A document processing apparatus according to the present invention capable of changing a layout of a document dynamically in accordance with data to be laid out in the document, comprises a priority order setting unit which independently sets, for each of a plurality of pieces of region information representing regions to lay out the data, a priority order representing an order of determination of a size of the region by inserting the data in the region; a storage unit which stores a template which contains the region information representing the region to lay out the data and priority order information representing the priority order associated with the region by the priority order setting unit; and a layout unit which sequentially lays out the data corresponding to the region in the order represented by the priority order in accordance with the template, and when one of the size and position of the region can be changed, changes one of the size and position of the region in accordance with the data without invading a region associated with a higher priority order than the region.

    • A sound processing apparatus in which the levels of audio signals from which have been extracted signals of a frequency band lower than a predetermined frequency band are controlled by using signals of the predetermined frequency band extracted from audio signals that are converted from sound waves generated from a sound source and by using signals that are extracted from the above audio signals and are lying within a frequency band lower than the above predetermined frequency band, and the signals of which the levels are controlled and the audio signals are combined together and are output. The sound processing apparatus is capable of removing noise components such as wind noise from the audio signals despite of its simple constitution.

    • An achromatic-type scanning optical arrangement includes a laser source, a first optical system for converging a beam of light emanating from the laser source, a deflecting device for deflecting the beam of light converged by the first optical system and a second optical system for focusing the beam of light deflected by the deflecting device onto a predetermined position. The f-.theta. lens system include a first lens system arranged to face the light deflector and having a positive refractive power in a scan plane and a second lens system arranged to face the surface to be scanned and having a positive refractive power. A focal length f.sub.M of the overall system of the f-.theta. lens system in the main scan plane and a focal length f.sub.S of the overall system thereof in the sub-scan plane are different from each other.
