The duo-binary optical transmission apparatus includes an electro-absorption modulated laser (EML) for performing a light intensity modulation operation based on an electrical data signal and producing a modulated optical signal, the EML having a light source for outputting carriers and a modulator for performing the light intensity modulation operation, a precoder for inputting an inverted signal of the electrical data signal and encoding it to an encoded signal, and a modulator for performing a phase modulation of the optical signal modulated by the EML and outputting a duo-binary optical signal, according to the encoded signal.

摘要： An optical transmitter for use in high-density WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical transmission system generates an RZ-AMI (Return to Zero—Alternate Mark Inversion) signal which contains not only high reception sensitivity suitable for a high-density WDM optical transmission system, but also a narrow spectrum bandwidth. The transmitter includes a precoder for coding an input binary-data electric signal, a modulation drive amplifier for amplifying the coded signal, a light source for generating an optical carrier signal, a first optical modulator for modulating a phase of the optical carrier signal upon receiving the amplified signal from the amplifier, a second optical modulator for modulating an output signal of the first optical modulator into an RZ (Return to Zero) signal, and an optical filter for filtering an output signal of the second optical modulator to tailor the output signal for a predetermined bandwidth.

摘要： Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for recognizing characters using an image. A camera is activated according to a character recognition request and a preview mode is set for displaying an image photographed through the camera in real time. An auto focus of the camera is controlled and an image having a predetermined level of clarity is obtained for character recognition from the images obtained in the preview mode. The image for character recognition is character-recognition-processed so as to extract recognition result data. A final recognition character row is drawn that excludes non-character data from the recognition result data. A first word is combined including at least one character of the final recognition character row and a predetermined maximum number of characters. A dictionary database that stores dictionary information on various languages using the first word is searched, so as to provide the user with the corresponding word.
