    • A mechanism for detecting an unlocked state of connectors is provided. An interfering portion for interfering with a slider which is not pushed in is formed on a mating component to which a component having first and second connectors is attached. The locking plate of the slider is provided with an inclined portion and a flat portion in a direction perpendicular to the connector engagement direction. The second connector is provided with an inclined surface corresponding to the inclined portion, a flat surface corresponding to the flat portion, and an insertion opening adjacent to the flat surface for accommodating the locking plate. When the flat portion is completely in contact with the flat surface, the length of the protruding portion of the slider is the same as the width of the clearance between the second connector and the interfering portion. When the inclined portion slides along the inclined surface so that the terminals of the connectors are separated from each other, the length of the protruding portion of the slider is the same as the width of the clearance. A side surface of the interfering portion faces to the operation surface of the pushed-in slider.

    • A method for shifting a terminal which has been incompletely inserted into a terminal accommodating chamber of a connector housing of a connector for use in a wiring harness for motor vehicles to completely insert the terminal by the use of an inserted position correcting jig is provided. The method includes inserting a front end portion of the inserted terminal position correcting jig into an opening formed in a peripheral wall extending from a rear portion of the connector housing. The opening functions as a pivot center and has a correcting operation checking member therein to thereby shift the jig toward the housing pivoting on the opening. The jig is thus fitted with the rear end portion of the terminal which is still in an incompletely inserted state so as to shift the terminal to a completely inserted position and securely lock the terminal. Since the correcting operation checking member formed in the opening is removed when the front end portion of the jig is inserted, whether or not the correcting operation is perfectly done can be checked from outside by a removal or deformation of the correcting operation checking member.

    • A connection terminal is retained by a retaining lance which is a primary retaining member formed in a terminal receiving chamber. In addition, in a terminal insertion port at the rear end of the terminal receiving chamber, a rear holder having retaining projections provided on the side walls and a U-shaped wire holding portion is provided as a secondary retaining member. Retaining holes engageable with the retaining projections are provided on side walls of the terminal receiving chamber. A displacement preventing member having a width which is substantially equal to a width of a U-shaped opening of the wire holding portion is extended rearward at the rear end of an upper circumferential wall of the terminal receiving chamber. This displacement preventing member is inserted into the wire holding portion under the condition where the rear holder is locked. Accordingly, the rear holder is held between the side walls of the terminal receiving chamber and the displacement preventing member so that the secondary retaining member is surely prevented from being released from retaining.
