    • Processes and compositions are described for use in foodstuff, chewing gum, toothpaste and medicinal product flavor and aroma, smoking tobacco flavor and aroma and perfume and perfumed article aroma augmenting, enhancing and imparting compositions; and as foodstuff, chewing gum, toothpaste, medicinal product, smoking tobacco, perfume and perfumed article aroma and/or flavor imparting materials of 2,6,6-trimethyl-.alpha.-(iso)propenyl-1-cyclohexene-1-methanol and -1,3-cyclohexadiene-1-methanol derivatives or one or more of their geometric or stereoisomers as defined by the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 or R.sub.3 is methyl and the other two of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represents hydrogen; the dashed line is a carbon-carbon double bond or a carbon-carbon single bond; with the proviso that when R.sub.1 is hydrogen, the dashed line is a carbon-carbon double bond.Addition of one or more of the 2,6,6-trimethyl-.alpha.-(iso)propenyl-1-cyclohexene-1-methanols or -1,3-cyclohexadiene-1-methanols of our invention to consumable materials is indicated to produce:A. In foodstuffs, chewing gums, toothpastes and medicinal products, sweet, camphoraceous, damascenone, raspberry-like, raspberry juice-like, rosey, woody/ionone-like, oriental, tobacco-like, tea-like, grape-like, fruity and ionone-like aromas and flavor notes;B. In perfumes, colognes and perfumed articles, leathery, hay, woody, mustard, minty, spicey (clove) and pulegone-like aromas and hay/tobacco and honey ionone-like topnotes with safronal-like nuances; andC. In tobaccos and tobacco flavors, a sweet-musty, hay-tobacco-like, fruity-raspberry, ionone-like aroma prior to smoking and a fruity tobacco-like, Virgina tobacco-like aroma on smoking both in the main stream and in the side stream.

    • Described is a process for qualitatively and quantitatively substantially continuously analyzing the aroma emitted and rates of emission of the aroma components thereof from two or more different varieties and/or species of living leaves, living fruits, living trees or living flowers at a given point in time or over a given time period using a multiplicity of enclosures to each contain one or more living leaves, living fruits, living flowers or cover surface portions of living trees or living fruits (one or more per enclosure) and having a single aroma trapping means communicating with all of the enclosures, and apparatus for carrying out such process. Also described is a process for preparing one or more perfume compositions comprising the steps of carrying out the aforementioned analysis or analyses and then, using the results of such analysis or analyses, providing and admixing at least the major components found in the analysis or analyses; apparatus for carrying out such process and perfume compositions prepared using such apparatus and process.
