    • An inflation verification system for an inflatable tool includes at least an information collector associated with the inflatable element of the inflatable tool connected to a controller with a predetermined set of instructions for inciting communications with the surface. Communicators contemplated include atmospheric chambers which when opened create a negative pressure pulse which propagates to the surface. More than one chamber increases the number of pulses generable and thus the amount of information conveyable. Alternative preferable communicators are electromagnetic pulse generators and acoustic telemetry. An advantage of acoustic telemetry is that more quantitative information is transmittable. Other downhole communication methods are also employable.

    • A method and apparatus is provided for extending a pressurization time interval. The pressurization-extending device includes a number of components which cooperate together. The pressurization-extending device is coupled between a source of pressurized fluid, such as a pump, and a fluid-actuated wellbore tool, such as an inflatable packer or inflatable bridge plug. The components include an input for receiving pressurized fluid from the source of pressurized fluid, and an output for directing pressurized fluid to the fluid-actuated wellbore tool to supply an actuating force to the fluid-actuated wellbore tool. The pressurization-extending device further includes a timer device, which is responsive to the actuating force of the pressurized fluid, for automatically maintaining the actuating force of the pressurized fluid within the fluid-actuated wellbore tool at a preselected force level for a preselected time interval.

    • A conventional inflatable packer or bridge plug incorporates a reinforced sleeve of elastomeric material mounted in surrounding relationship to a tubular body and having one end of the sleeve fixed and sealably secured to the tubular body and the other end sealably and slidably affixed to the tubular body.     • A well packer is shown having an annular packing element surrounded on either side by axially shiftable annular shoulders. Extrusion preventing devices are located between each shoulder and the packing element to prevent extrusion of the packing material during use. The extrusion preventing devices include an outer split ring having a generally triangular cross-section defined by a cylindrical abutment surface for abutment with the outer conduit, a tapered sidewall engageable with one of the shoulders, and a planar surface which is substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the packer. The planar surface has an innermost radial extent which joins the tapered sidewall and an outermost radial extent which joins the cylindrical abutment surface. The extrusion preventing device also includes an inner split ring of complimentary shape but reversely arranged to the outer ring. The planar surface of the inner ring is provided with a circumferential land which joins the innermost radial extent for engaging the innermost radial extent of the outer ring to prevent extrusion of the packing element past the extrusion preventing device.
