摘要： The present invention is concerned with a basket processing apparatus that includes a basket storage portion in a form of a horizontal load rail (2). A plurality of slide storage baskets (4) can be located in series on the rail (2). Each basket is “side loading” and the side loading aperture of each basket can be selectively covered by a slide retaining bar (6). When the baskets (4) are placed on the load rail (2) (e.g. by hooking or clipping the baskets onto the rail), the basket can be moved along the horizontal rail by a basket moving means. The arrangement of the rail and the basket moving means is such that the baskets can be pushed together and move as a “train”. Baskets moved to the pick-up end (12) of the rail can then be removed from the rail and processed. A vertical lift mechanism can be used to remove the basket and transport it to a processing device, for example a coverslipper.

The connector (20) has a first side tab (22) adjoining the end plate (21) along a first common edge whereby the first side tab (22) may be bent round (5) about that common edge to engage a first side face (11) of the timber member following engagement of the end plate with the timber member end face. The first side tab (22) has projecting teeth (30) for penetrating the first side face (11), the teeth (30) being curved along their length towards the end plate (21) of the connector (20). A second side tab (23) is similarly formed to the first side tab (22, 10) and adjoins the end plate (21) along a second common edge opposed to the first common edge, for bending round to engage a second side face (12) of the timber member.

摘要： Embodiments of the present invention are directed to pulsed polarimeters for conducting remote, non-perturbative diagnostic measurements of inducing fields of a medium demonstrating induced optical activity. In one aspect, a pulse polarimeter includes a light source emitting a polarized light pulse having sufficiently narrow spatial extent at a prescribed wavelength and a light gathering optical system including a light gathering optic having an optic axis directed toward the medium and positioned to collect and collimate a predetermined solid angle of an emission from the medium into a collimated emission beam, while preserving the polarization state of the emission. The pulse polarimeter includes a directional coupler that makes coincident the propagation direction of the polarized light pulse with the optic axis and a polarization detection system for measuring the intensity and determining the polarization state of the collimated emission beam continuously in time as the polarized light pulse transits the medium.
