    • Systems and methods for providing security to a user of an electronic device are provided. An electronic device can be configured to enter a prevention mode in response to detecting a force that exceeds a predetermined threshold, thereby providing security. Embodiments are described wherein the device, upon entering a prevention mode, may transmit a security transmission, in the form of a telephone call or an e-mail. This security transmission, when received by a security entity, can lead to the security entity dispatching an officer to the device's location, or to the security entity placing a telephone call to the device's owner, thereby providing security. Embodiments are also provided whereby the device, upon entering a prevention mode, may enter a lock-down mode. When in lock-down mode, the device may become inaccessible by any user, or alternatively may be accessed only if a security password is provided by the user.

    • Methods and apparatus which allow parents to control the access of their children to features of a portable electronic device are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method for controlling the use of features associated with a portable electronic device includes setting at least one constraint associated with access to a feature of the portable electronic device and processing a user request to access the feature. The method can also include determining whether the constraint indicates that the feature is currently accessible to the user, and permitting access to the feature when the indication is that the feature is currently accessible to the user. Finally, access to the feature can be denied if the indication is that the feature is not currently accessible to the user.

    • Systems and methods for enhanced media playback are disclosed. According to one aspect, during media playback, auxiliary (or secondary) media can be integrated with primary media. For example, an electronic device offering media playback can not only play back media item data but can also play back other auxiliary media data. In one implementation, presentation of a media group can involve not only presentation of media items of the media group but also presentation of auxiliary media. Another aspect pertains to how and when auxiliary media data is to be presented (e.g., played) by an electronic device. Another aspect pertains to updating or refreshing auxiliary media data. Still another aspect pertains to restricting presentation of primary media by an electronic device unless auxiliary data is also presented.

A system aspect for improving data transfer from memory to a texture mapping unit includes a plurality of cache banks for storing texel data, a bank decode unit coupled to the plurality of cache banks for decoding a plurality of input signals indicative of selection of texel data from one or more of the plurality of banks, and selection control logic for receiving decoded address data from the bank decode unit and controlling selection of the plurality of cache banks to retrieve the texel data for output to the texture mapping unit.
