    • An image pickup device disclosed by this application includes an image pickup element; a lens optical system including a focus lens; a driving section for driving one of the image pickup element and the focus lens so as to change a distance between the image pickup element and the focus lens; a displacement control section configured to output an instruction to the driving section to control displacement of the image pickup element or the focus lens which is driven, based on a prescribed displacement pattern; and a synchronization section configured to control the displacement control section based on timing for exposing the image pickup element. Where first and second focus positions of the focus lens or the image pickup element provide focusing at first and second subject distances respectively in an image pickup scene, the displacement pattern includes a first type of displacement pattern by which the focus lens or the image pickup element is displaced in a displacement range between the first focus position and the second focus position, and a second type of displacement pattern by which the focus lens or the image pickup element is displaced in another displacement range between the first focus position and the second focus position; the first type of displacement pattern and the second type of displacement pattern being alternately repeated.

    • A three-dimensional image capturing apparatus generates depth information to be used for generating a three-dimensional image from an input image, and includes: a capturing unit obtaining the input image in capturing; an object designating unit designating an object in the input image; a resolution setting unit setting depth values, each representing a different depth position, so that in a direction parallel to a depth direction of the input image, depth resolution near the object is higher than depth resolution positioned apart from the object, the object being designated by the object designating unit; and a depth map generating unit generating two-dimensional depth information corresponding to the input image by determining, for each of regions in the input image, a depth value, from among the depth values set by the resolution setting unit, indicating a depth position corresponding to one of the regions.

    • A torque converter 1 transmits torque from the engine to an output shaft. The torque converter 1 includes a front cover 2, impeller 3, and turbine 4. The turbine 4 includes a turbine shell 11 located opposite the impeller 3 and provided with a plurality of blades, and a turbine hub 13 located at a radially inner end of the turbine shell 11 to couple the turbine shell 11 with the output shaft.     • A reproduction speed conversion apparatus includes an audio decoding section; an audio reproduction speed conversion section; a video reproduction speed conversion section; and a video decoding section.
