The information reproducing apparatus includes a drive (101) that reads content from an information recording medium (102) on which content including an electronic watermark, indicating an attribute denoting whether or not the content is encrypted, is recorded, a decryptor (103), a decryptor status monitor (104), a stream attribute monitor (106), a decision means (107) that determines that the content has been abnormally processed when a decryption status signal indicates otherwise than that decryption processing is being performed and an attribute detection signal indicates that the content is encrypted, or when the decryption status signal indicates that decryption processing is being performed and the attribute detection signal indicates that the content is non-encrypted, a video decoder (105), and an output control means (108) that is not allowed to output the video signal if the content has been abnormally processed.

摘要： A system and method summarizes multimedia stored in a compressed multimedia file partitioned into a sequence of segments, where the content of the multimedia is, for example, video signals, audio signals, text, and binary data. An associated metadata file includes index information and an importance level for each segment. The importance information is continuous over as closed interval. An importance level threshold is selected in the closed interval, and only segments of the multimedia having a particular importance level greater than the importance level threshold are reproduced. The importance level can also be determined for fixed-length windows of multiple segments, or a sliding window. Furthermore, the importance level can be weighted by a factor, such as the audio volume.

The method is applicable to optical recording media having different track pitches. Before reading information or recording information, a laser beam is employed to read from a control track area of an optical recording medium track pitch information including the track pitch of the medium. Then, based upon the track pitch read, the shape of the spot of the laser beam incident on the optical recording medium is adjusted so that it conforms to the track pitch determined by reading the information from the control track area.

The two-division photodetector includes first and second light receiving sections separated from each other by a division band region which receive the reflected light beam not obscured by the obscurer. A focus error signal is produced based on the output of each light receiving section. Each light receiving section has an array of tapered projections along its edge in the division band region. Alteratively, the light receiving sections have a main part with an edge coincident with an edge of the division band region, and groups of light receiving stripes extending in a direction parallel with the edges of the main part.

The area in which the content information (CI) is written is shifted with respect to the user area (UIA) in a playback-only disc. The control information (SI) is written with an identical shift. As a result of the shift, content information (CI) or dummy data (DD) is written in the area (SIA) in which control information is recorded in a playback-only disc. Information indicating the value of the shift is selected randomly and deleted when the disc is removed from the recording apparatus. When encrypted content is downloaded and recorded on a recordable optical disc, the complete content can be recorded on the disc correctly just once.
