    • In a time base corrector for correcting time base fluctuations of signals reproduced from a record medium, on which a plurality of time-compressed component signals occurring within one horizontal period in a predetermined sequential order are recorded in response to a clock signal with a predetermined frequency, a write clock pulse generator used in the time base corrector includes a phase shifter for shifting the phase of an incoming write clock signal, whereby the write clock signal having a frequency different from the predetermined frequency is generated in response to a horizontal synchronizing signal, the start time of each of the plurality of reproduced component signals is detected and the shifting amount of the write clock signal by the phase shifter is switched in accordance with the detected output so as to synchronize the write clock signal with the start time of each of the reproduced component signal.

    • A receiving reproducing system for an automotive radio detects the surrounding noise level other than the output sound thereof, in the sound field extending in the passenger compartment of an automobile, and the level which is dependent upon the received signal level of an antenna. The receiving reproducing system partly controls its output sound volume proportionally in accordance with the surrounding noise level and partly lowers its output sound volume in dependence upon the reduction in the received signal level. Even under the circumstances where the surrounding noise level is high and where the received signal level is low, the sound volume of the output sound containing many noises can be prevented from being raised.

    • Techniques for transmitting data over a communications channel are generally described. A value of a property of an inverse of a channel matrix corresponding to the communications channel may be calculated and compared to a threshold value. If the value of the property a first one of greater than or less than the threshold value, at least one transmit message may be altered using a vector perturbation technique to generate data symbols and the data symbols may be precoded using a channel inversion technique to generate precoded data symbols. If the value of the property is the other of greater than or less than the threshold value, the at least one transmit message may be precoded using a channel inversion technique to generate precoded data symbols.
