    • A compact, low-cost, high-performance, imaging engine for an imaging reader for, and a method of, imaging targets, include a single printed circuit board (PCB), an illumination light assembly supported by the PCB for illuminating a target, a single chassis mounted on the PCB, an imaging lens assembly supported by the chassis for capturing return light from the illuminated target, and a solid-state imager supported by the PCB for detecting the captured return light over a field of view, and for generating an electrical signal indicative of the captured light. A controller is mounted on or off the imaging engine, and is operatively connected to, and controls the operation of, the imager and the illumination light assembly, for processing the electrical signal into data indicative of the target being imaged.

    • A floating trigger assembly is mounted on a housing of an ergonomically triggered reader for electro-optically reading a target to initiate the reading when manually actuated by an operator. The trigger assembly includes a trigger support in the housing, and a floating trigger engageable by the operator exteriorly of the housing and mounted for initial translatory motion toward the trigger support upon initial actuation by the operator, and for turning motion about an axis after the floating trigger contacts the trigger support.

    • A scan engine (15) includes illumination sources (48, 50) for projecting a light beam (40) upon a target object, a focusing lens (44) that receives a reflected light (34) of the target object and focuses a reflected image (35) as it passes through the focusing lens (44) along an optical axis (A-A), and a linear sensor (46) that receives the reflected image (35) from the focusing lens (44). The linear sensor (46) provides a signal (59) representing the reflected image (34). A circuit board (16) is integrally connected to the illumination sources (48, 50) and the linear sensor (46).

    • A method and apparatus are provided comprising a dual window scanner (10, 200, 400) for imaging a target bar code (30) on a target object (32). The dual window scanner comprises a housing (20) supporting two transparent windows (V, H) and defining an interior region (18). The dual window scanner further comprises an imaging system including a plurality of cameras (C1-C6) wherein each camera is positioned within the housing interior region (18) and defines a field-of-view which is different than a field-of-view of each other camera of the plurality of cameras, each camera includes a sensor array (40). Each camera in the plurality of cameras located within the housing for directing the respective field-of-views such that the field-of-views substantially fill the surface of the two transparent windows.
