    • Disclosed are a gas diffusion electrode for an electrochemical cell which comprises a catalyst layer formed by binding, by means of poiytotrafluoroethylene, catalyst-supporting carbon black and catalyst-non-supporting carbon black having a fluorinated polyolofine film on substantially whole surface, the catalyst layer being integrated on a substrate, and a process of preparing same. Since the carbon black employed for the formation of the gas network in the catalyst layer of the gas diffusion electrode having the above constitution in accordance with the present invention is completely hydrophobically treated, no electrolyte permeates this portion and the carbon black exhibits high hydrophobicity so that the wet-proofing is maintained even after the long operation period to enable the gas supply to the catalyst particles so as to provide the gas diffusion electrode with a long life and high electrode performances.

    • In a control system for a power transmission and distribution system, a plurality of distributed power supplying and receiving units each including a control unit are provided and connected along a power distribution line. The power supplying and receiving unit function to generate active and reactive powers of fundamental and higher harmonic waves to supply and receive the same to and from the power distribution line. A first central control unit controls the power distribution line and is designed to store information relating to the configuration of the power distribution line, to collect information with regard to instant open and close conditions of respective disconnecting switches connected for sectioning the power distribution line, and with regard to current electrical quantities on the power distribution line. Individual control command signals specific to the respective power supplying and receiving units are produced based on the stored and collected information and the respective power supplying and receiving units are controlled so that a desired target condition of the power distribution line is achieved autonomously within the power distribution line through an optimum cooperation control of the units.

    • A composite longitudinal vibration mechanical filter for delivering out a supplied high-frequency signal in a predetermined frequency range includes a plurality of vibratable bodies including input and output longitudinal vibratable tuning bars with piezoelectric members superposed thereon, coupling elements by which the longitudinally vibratable tuning bars are coupled to each other, supporting elements projecting respectively from the input and output longitudinally vibratable tuning bars, and a holder to which the supporting elements are attached. Through holes may instead be defined in the longitudinally vibratable tuning bars, the through holes having an opening size smaller than the wavelength of the longitudinal vibration of the longitudinally vibratable tuning bars. Piezoelectric members are fixedly superposed on the input and output longitudinally vibratable tuning bars in sandwiching relation thereto.
