The reader includes a plurality of optically readable information set sensors that generate an output signal according to an image of an information set incident thereon. The information set image is captured and sent to a processor, and at least a portion of the output signal generated by information set sensors is stored in memory during a reading operation wherein a first portion of the output signal is assembled with a second portion of the output signal such that the information set is thereby read.

摘要： A portable terminal unit of tablet configuration contains an optical reader for scanning two-dimensional information on a target area. The terminal unit has an optical window near an underside thereof and contains an optical reader having a given depth of field and field of view at a given range from the window. The apparatus includes a ranger for operably determining the range of the target area from the terminal unit and a controller for operably controling activation of the reader. The controller may be configured to permit activation of the reader as: the target area is spaced within a certain tolerance range about an optimal focal length from the reader; the target area is spaced within the depth of field of the reader and motion of the terminal unit relative to the target area is halted; or the target area is spaced within the depth of field of the reader and motion of the terminal unit relative to the target area is reversed.

摘要： An improved apparatus for portable interchangeable data terminals and peripherals includes a terminal adapted to receive information from a pen inputing device and a docking mechanism having a terminal receiver for selectively receiving the terminal. The terminal receiver includes a handle extending upwardly therefrom, a base extending laterally across the docking mechanism, and open channel members extending upwardly from each side of the base. A rear portion of each of the channel members may carry at least one roller guide and/or a central portion of each of the channel members may carry at least one roller guide disposed to contact a respective lateral edge of the terminal as the terminal is received by the docking mechanism. The base has a guide and a receiver connector configured to operably and respectively connect to a tab and a terminal connector of the terminal, as the terminal is received by the terminal receiver such that information is processable from the terminal to peripherals. The handle is inclined back from the open channel members. The base carries a spare battery charge station at a rear thereof.

摘要： A hand-held bar code reader includes one or more photosensor arrays which provide a plurality of image sensor portions arranged for receiving images of a bar code through a plurality of selectively usable paths of different focal lengths which are defined by a passive optical system. A distance measuring system controls the sensor portion which is used to control the focal length. In one embodiment, the bar code image is projected to a plurality of receiving mirror surfaces, thence to a plurality of additional mirror surfaces and thence through lens barrels to mirrors which project the images to photosensor arrays. In another, the bar code image is projected to a plurality of receiving mirror surfaces, thence to an additional mirror surface, and thence through a single lens barrel to a mirror which projects the images to a photosensor array.
