    • An image processing device includes an image acquisition module, a memory module, and an image signal processing module, for performing an image enlargement and enhancement. The image acquisition module sequentially reads in an image block, including a unit pixel matrix and an exterior pixel matrix, wherein each pixel matrix includes a plurality of pixels and each pixel is associated with a parameter. The memory module stores a plurality of predefined edge patterns. The image signal processing module compares a loaded image block with predefined edge patterns, and determines if it is an edge block. Then, the image signal processing module further classifies its pixels into two groups, and calculates a continuous separating boundary between the two groups. Finally, the image signal processing module enlarges an edge block by placing new pixels inside its unit pixel matrix, wherein the new pixel parameters are extrapolated from the two classified pixel groups to maintain a sharp edge boundary. For those that are not edge blocks, interpolations are performed by the image signal processing module to derive smooth enlargements.

    • A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel with power consumption reduction and methods of driving same. In one embodiment, the LCD panel includes a pixel matrix, a plurality of scanning lines and a plurality of data lines. Each pair of two neighboring scanning lines defines a pixel row therebetween, and each pair of two neighboring data lines defines a pixel column therebetween. Each pixel has at least a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel. Each sub-pixel has a sub-pixel electrode and a switching element electrically coupled to the sub-pixel electrode. Each pair of two neighboring scanning lines is electrically coupled to the switching elements of the first sub-pixel and the second sub-pixel of each pixel in the pixel row, respectively. Each data line is electrically coupled to the switching element of the first sub-pixel or the second sub-pixel of each odd pixel of one of two neighboring pixel columns associated with the data line and to the switching element of the second sub-pixel or the first sub-pixel of each even pixel of the other of the two neighboring pixel columns. The LCD panel further includes a gate driver and a data driver for generating scanning signals and data signals applied to the plurality of scanning lines and the plurality of data lines, respectively. The scanning signals are configured to turn on the switching elements connected to the plurality of scanning lines in a predefined sequence, and the data signals are configured such that any two neighboring data signals have inverted polarities.

In general, P DDR_SDRAM chips running at a 1.5 clock rate are used to store frame data in N frames. If the frame date in each of the N frames is n bits and the memory space in the DDR_SDRAM chip is m, then P is a smallest integer equal to or greater than N multiplied by (n/m). In data transfer in a frame, a line period is partitioned into N segments and each DDR-SDRAM chip is separated into (N−1) parts such that the parts are used to read different data in the different frames. In order to share I/O pins when using a number of DDR_SDRAM chips, the read/write sequence for the all DDR_SDRAM chips follows the same command and address.
