    • A rotating all metal sealed fluid delivery system for supplying fluid to an apparatus, such as an electron beam source assembly, in an UHV environment includes a housing with fluid inlet and outlet ports therethrough, opposed fluid inlet and outlet lines, an inlet and outlet bellows within the housing, and a turntable mounted in an aperture in the housing for attachment to a rotatable spindle of the apparatus. A ultra high vacuum compression gasket forms an UHV seal between the spindle and the turntable. The bellows are attached at first ends to the inlet and outlet ports, and at opposite ends to the opposed inlet and outlet lines extending to the rotatable apparatus, through the spindle and the turntable into the housing. The bellows are coiled within the housing and separated by a non-abrasive plate. Following attachment to the ports and lines, the entire length of each bellows remains within a single plane during rotation along the same axis as the axis of rotation of the apparatus. As the spindle rotates up to 360.degree., the oppositely wound bellows are moved along the axis of rotation of the spindle where one coils as the other uncoils, all in the same horizontal plane.

    • A method treating a patient includes administering a physiologically effective amount of a fibrillation-resistant insulin analogue or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof to the patient. The fibrillation-resistant insulin analogue or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof, contains an insulin A-chain sequence modified at position A8 and an insulin B-chain sequence or an analogue thereof. The fibrillation-resistant insulin analogue may exhibit thermodynamic stability similar to or exceeding that of wild-type human insulin and displays a susceptibility to fibrillation similar to or exceeding that of wild-type human insulin. An insulin analogue may display greater in vitro insulin receptor binding than normal insulin while displaying binding to IGFR less than twice that of normal insulin and less than that of fast-acting insulin analogs. The fibrillation-resistant insulin may be used to treat a patient by subcutaneous injection or by using an implantable or external insulin pump, due to its fibrillation resistance.

A method of treating a patient comprises administering a physiologically effective amount of the insulin analogue or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof to a patient. Halogen substitution-based stabilization of insulin may enhance the treatment of diabetes mellitus in regions of the developing world lacking refrigeration.

    • A regulatable coolant pump of an internal combustion engine having a pump housing in which a pump shaft with an associated impeller is rotatably mounted. The impeller conveys a coolant via an intake connection into a pressure channel of the coolant pump, a volume flow of the coolant pump being adjustable by a guide plate that externally surrounds the impeller at least in some regions and is displaceable by a pressure medium. The guide plate is connected in rotationally fixed fashion to the impeller and is continuously axially displaceable between two end positions and guided with a cylindrical bushing, with play at both sides, in an annular groove of the impeller or of an insert enclosed by the impeller. The guide plate, the pump shaft, the insert part, and/or the impeller together delimit a pressure chamber that is charged by the pressure medium in order to displace the guide plate.

    • A device for camshaft adjustment in an internal combustion engine which has an inner rotor rotationally fixed to a camshaft. The inner rotor is rotationally adjustable relative to an outer rotor that is driveably connected to a crankshaft. At least one hydraulic chamber limited by side walls is introduced into the outer rotor and is divided into two partial chambers by an element extending radially outward from the inner rotor. To lock relative movement between the inner and outer rotor, two locking pins penetrating the inner rotor axially engage in two recesses of one of the side walls designed as a locking cover. To adjust the play of the locking pins in the recesses, at least one of the recesses has a stop surface for the locking pin, the position of which changes as viewed circumferentially with the radial distance from the axis of the inner rotor.
