    • A safety assembly for a firearm and method for using the same. A safety assembly includes at least one control extending to the exterior of the firearm; a bias element operatively associated with the control, the bias element biasing the control in a first position; and an unlocking mechanism, the unlocking mechanism being connected to the control and interlinked with a trigger to unlock the trigger when the control is in a second position. A method for using a safety assembly includes placing at least one hand on a forestock of a firearm; placing at least one digit on the trigger; using the hand to depress a button extending to the forestock to unlock the trigger, the button being operatively associated with the trigger and being connected to at least one bias element that biases the button in a locked position; and while the button is depressed, squeezing the trigger.

    • A fiberglass and hardenable resin based orthopedic casting material that is shaped, cut, or otherwise formed into a skeletal hexagonal cellular mesh array. The material forms a generally sheet-like material having an array of aligned apertures Reinforcing strand components, such as stainless steel and Kevlar® fibers may be incorporated into the casting material. The apertures serve the primary purpose of allowing nearly complete air flow through the cast to permit the rapid drying of the cast and the skin after wetting occurs. The apertures also serve to allow close visual and physical monitoring of the condition of the patient's skin and limb. The sheet-like material may be trimmed both prior to application in its pliable state and subsequent to application in its rigid state. The size of the hexagonal apertures in the material may vary, but is generally large in comparison to the size of sides of the hexagonal apertures.

    • An apparatus for placement in a wound to promote healing, and a method of treating wounds using such apparatus. The apparatus comprises a bioabsorbable fabric supported by a skeleton of impervious flexible members, such as Teflon™ tubes. When placed inside the wound, the bioabsorbable fabric absorbs into the body within about 5 to 10 days. As the fabric is being absorbed, it serves as a framework for fibroblasts to bridge the gap in the wounded tissue and thereby promote healing. The tubes serve as conduits to remove excess fluids from the wound, preferably under the power of a suction device to which the tubes are connected outside the body. After the fabric is absorbed by the body, the flexible tubes are removed. An expandable embodiment may be deployed into a wound cavity via an introducer tube and plunger. The apparatus may incorporate various sensors.

    • A process and apparatus for removing the impurities from a gas stream produced from a landfill such that essentially pure carbon dioxide and methane is recovered. After the landfill gas is mechanically dewatered, the gas is filtered of particulate solids and aerosols and purified by removing sulfur compounds using zinc oxide columns, removing halogens using activated alumina columns, removing hydrocarbons using activated charcoal columns, and oxidizing remaining impurities using potassium permanganate impregnated activated alumina columns. Lastly the gas is incinerated in a boiler/incinerator combustion furnace to produce an exit stream containing essentially pure carbon dioxide and air, which is further treated in a conventional carbon dioxide treatment process.
