    • An image forming apparatus includes an intermediate transfer belt having a coated layer as a surface layer that carries an developer image on the surface layer, a light-emitting member that emits light rays having a predetermined wavelength toward the surface layer of the intermediate transfer belt, and a sensing member that senses the light rays reflected from the intermediate transfer belt. The intermediate transfer belt includes a metal layer whose light reflection coefficient is larger than that of the coated layer and an intermediate layer positioned between the coated layer and the metal layer, and the intermediate layer that restrains the different light rays having a wavelength other than the predetermined wavelength from reflecting from the intermediate transfer belt.

    • A plurality of modules and/or engines to manage the operation and health of a plurality of databases through the use of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Modules of the present invention are configured to assist database administrators to create, and thereafter store in an accessible memory resource, a plurality of SOPs. These SOPs define procedures to address various database informational states. Database state information is monitored, collected and analyzed to determine, based either on a predetermined rule set or on manual input from an authorized database administrator, whether one or more SOPs will be applied to a particular database environment. These SOPs can be combined and/or executed on the database either automatically or manually.

    • An image forming apparatus adapted for a smooth mounting/dismounting of a process unit and for the reduction of wasteful power consumption is provided.Unless a new image signal is applied after completion of an image forming operation, the apparatus starts a clocking operation by an internal timer (Step S101). If the apparatus is left standstill for a predetermined length of time (Step S102), a sleep process (Step S103) is executed to shift the apparatus to a power save mode to consume less power. When an outside cover is opened (Step S105), on the other hand, the apparatus is shifted to a replacement operation mode (Step S106) in which only the rotation of a development rotary is permitted. However, if the apparatus is left with the outside cover opened (Step S108), the sleep process is executed.

    • An electronic circuit includes a plurality of configurable cells configured by a control circuit such as a test access controller when it receives a mode command signal: either in a functional state in which the configurable cells are functionally linked to logic cells with which they co-operate to form at least one logic circuit if the mode command signal is in a first state or in a chained state in which the configurable cells are functionally connected in a chain to form a shift register, if the mode command signal is in a second state. The electronic circuit also includes a detection circuit laid out to produce an active state signal if it detects a chained state of the configurable cells while the controller receives the mode command signal in the first state.
