    • An injection nozzle for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine comprises a nozzle body having a bore for receiving fuel from a supply line for pressurized fuel, an outlet from the bore for delivering fuel to the combustion chamber, in use, and a valve needle defining a needle axis and being slidable within the bore. The needle comprises a needle guide portion arranged to guide the needle within the bore. The injection nozzle further comprises a restriction within the bore for restricting fuel flow through the bore, and a restrictive element moveable with the needle and located upstream of the needle guide portion. At least a part of a downstream side of the restrictive element comprises a bevelled surface that extends to a peripheral edge of the restrictive element, the bevelled surface being non-perpendicular to the needle axis.

    • The invention relates to a fuel injection system of the common rail type having a rail body comprising a central bore and one or more outlet bores in fluid communication with the central bore for communicating with a respective fuel injector. The outer circumference of the rail body is substantially oval in cross-section and is thicker in cross-section in a direction substantially perpendicular to the outlet bore axis as compared to the thickness in cross-section substantially parallel to the outlet bore axis. By increasing the thickness of the rail body in this way, stresses at the intersection of the intersection of the central bore with the outlet holes may be reduced by up to 10% or more, thereby increasing the acceptable cycled running pressure of the system.

    • A fuel injector for a compression ignition internal combustion engine which comprises a fuel injection valve having an injection valve member which is moveable in use, under the influence of fuel pressure within an injection valve member control chamber acting upon it, between a closed position and an open position. The fuel injector further comprises a high pressure fuel supply passage to the injection valve member control chamber, and an actuator operable to open and close a discharge valve connected between the injection valve member control chamber and a fuel outlet passage to a low pressure reservoir or drain. A shut-off valve is provided in the high pressure fuel supply passage and the shut-off valve has a shut-off valve member which is moveable in use, under the influence of fuel pressure within a shut-off valve member control chamber acting upon it, between a closed position and an open position. The shut-off valve member control chamber is connectable to the low pressure reservoir or drain via the discharge valve, and a fuel transfer passage is provided between the injection valve member control chamber and the low pressure reservoir or drain.

    • The present invention relates to a connector system comprising a plug connector and a retainer configured to be inserted into a corresponding holder. The plug connector comprises a connector housing and a latching arm assigned to the connectorhousing, whereby the plug connector is configured to be mountable with the retainer. The connector system comprises a deflection portion for causing the latching arm to deflect upon mounting of the plug connector with the retainer. The deflection portion is shaped such that the deflection provides increasing resistance against further movement of the plug connector. The release portion is shaped so the release deflection does not provide resistance against further movement of the plug connector.
