    • A connector system including first housing having a first header, the first header including one or more conductive pads that are in electrical communication with a conductor. A second housing that is mateable with the first housing and includes a second header positioned on a mating face. The second header includes one or more conductive pad that are electrically engaged with a conductor and positioned in confronting relation with the one or more conductive pads of the first header. An interposer located between the first header and the second header, with an electrical contact that extends continuously through the interposer toward conductive pads on the first and second headers. The interposer is movable between a first position where the electrical contact is spaced away from the at least one of the conductive pads, and a second position where the electrical contact electrically engages one of the conductive pads.

    • A first electrical wire terminal is designed to mate with a second, identical electrical wire terminal rotated ninety degrees about a longitudinal axis and turned to face the first terminal. In one embodiment, the first and second terminals each have an insertion member and a semi-rectangular receiving member forming a slot. The slot has a bowed side providing a resilient contact surface biased against the insertion member. The insertion member and the receiving member are arranged in a pattern such that they have adjacent edges with the insertion member extending perpendicular to the receiving member. The receiving member includes an aperture for accepting a projection on the insertion member to help maintain the electrical contact. In another embodiment, each terminal has a pair of insertion members and a pair of receiving members. The pairs are arranged in a box-like pattern with the insertion members having adjacent edges and the receiving members having adjacent edges as well.

    • An electrical connector assembly comprises a first connector and a second connector. The first connector and the second connector each have a housing with a contact receiving wall. Contacts are disposed in the housings of the first and second connectors. Each of the contacts has a contact portion, a terminal, a convex projection, and a press-fit portion. The convex projection is arranged between the contact portion and the press-fit portion. The convex projection abuts the contact receiving wall in the housing in which the contact is disposed to space the contact from the contact receiving wall when the first and second connectors are mated. A protective lip is formed on the contact receiving walls of the first and second connectors. The protective lip is formed adjacent to the contact portions of the contacts.

    • An electrical connector assembly includes a pair of hermaphroditic connectors having opposed mating faces which are juxtaposed generally along a plane when the connectors are mated. The connectors are adapted for mating in either opposite direction generally parallel to the plane of the mating faces. Each connector includes a housing having a plurality of spaced-apart ribs defining respective grooves between adjacent ribs. The ribs of each connector are interleaved with the ribs of the other connector when the two connectors are mated. The housing of each connector includes complementary interengaging latches to lock the connectors against unmating in a direction generally perpendicular to the plane of the mating faces. A plurality of terminals are mounted on each housing and have contact portions of at least some of the terminals between the ribs for engaging the contact portions of the terminals on the housing of the other connector.
