    • A system for interconnecting two medical devices with a flexible elongated interconnection member, such as a cord, a wire, or a tube, includes two separates lengths of the elongated member and a selectively releasable electric coupling therebetween. One or both lengths of the elongated member contain a cord dispenser which comprises a portion of that length of the cord wound into a tubular coil and a tubular casing coaxially encircling the coil and having openings at opposite ends thereof. Preferably, the inner surface of the casing is in gripping engagement with the outer surface of the coil. Depending on the manner in which the coil is wound, the cord and the coil can be controllably unwound from the coil in the casing by withdrawing an end of the cord from one or both exit openings in the casing. Preferably, however, one end of the cord passes longitudinally through the center of the coil from a winding at one end to an exit opening in the casing at the other end. Optionally the other end of the cord is disposed between the coil and casing. In one embodiment both ends of the cord pass through a single exit opening. The ends of each length of cord not coupled to each other may be provided with a cord stiffening interconnection handle to facilitate the coupling of that end to non-sterile medical equipment without compromising the sterile field in which the individual doing so is to operate.

An improvement achieved by the invention resides in that a group of stationary-side cable accommodation grooves and a group of movable-side cable accommodation grooves are formed by concentric projections in the cable housing so as to face each other, and that cutouts providing a communication through at least one of the groups of stationary-side and movable-side cable accommodation grooves are formed in the projections.

    • A portable container for storing and removing elongated elements, such as an electric extension cord, is disclosed. The portable container includes an open upper end, an inner shaft within the container about which an elongated element is wrapped, and a lid covering the open upper end of the container and having at least one opening which cooperates with the inner shaft to enable an elongated element to be inserted into the container and wrapped around the inner shaft or removed from the container while being unwound from the inner shaft. The inner shaft may be hollow for accommodating and storing various products therein, with a separate inner shaft cover for overlying an open upper end of the inner shaft so as to capture the various products stored therein. The lid may have a second opening through which one end of an elongated element extends with the other end of the elongated element extending through the overlying opening in the lid. The lid may be provided with cord holding clips for releasably holding opposite ends of the elongated element to the lid. A second lid may be provided to extend over the first lid including opposite ends of the elongated element, the openings in the first lid as well as the cord holding clips, with the second lid being releasably secured to the first lid. Suitable handles associated with the first lid or the container or both may be provided for lifting and carrying the portable container.

    • A device for the transporting of cable sections is provided where cables (19), with a length of up to about 10 meters, are transported step by step from processing station to processing station along a cable-processing line with a processing station disposed on the two sides of the cable-processing line. A cable (19), gripped on one side by a stationary gripper (15), is discharged with a cable feed device with the aid of an insertable deflector (49) into a receiver provision (11) for forming a cable bundle (20). The receiver device (11), with the cable bundle (20) on the one hand, and the two cable ends (21, 22) gripped by a gripper (18) on the other hand, are moving in a forward direction independent of each other cyclically in like fashion. The gripper (18) of a rotatably disposed transfer module (17) can be rotated during a transfer cycle by 180 degrees such that the two cable ends (21, 22) as desired can be directed toward one or toward a second side of the processing line. Instead of the conventionally required pair-wise provided processing stations for the processing of the two cable ends (21, 22), only one such station is sufficient, which is disposed either on one and/or on the second side of the processing line. The finished processed cable is discharged or pulled out of the transport container (1) at the end of the processing line.
