摘要： The disclosed article of furniture comprises a table with an adjustable base, a support, and a worksurface. The table can be deployed in a generally upright position for use and can be folded into a compact form for storage. The worksurface is mounted on an arm coupled to the base and is rotatable relative to the arm. The arm may be folded into the support. The support may be folded into the base. The worksurface may fit within a cavity between the legs of the base when the table is in the stowed position. The worksurface may have a height adjustment mechanism for the worksurface. The height adjustment mechanism may be configured to adjust to a predetermined “home” position when the support is folded into the base for the stowing position.

摘要： A desk or table assembly includes a support member such as a worksurface, and an upright member, which may be in the form of a privacy screen, adjacent an edge of the worksurface. The upright member is interconnected with the support member using a mounting arrangement including a spring to apply a constant upward biasing force on the upright member. The spring resists downward forces applied to the upright member, and assist upward forces applied to the upright member. The spring counterbalances the weight of the upright member so that the upright member is retained at a desired position when moved to the desired position thereto by either a downward or upward external force applied to the upright member.

A drive connected between the work table and the base changes the height of the work table and is located between the columns and posts. Each post carries a rack that engages with a pinion supported by a column for rotation about a common axis. A rigid shaft interconnects two pinions and prevents relative pinion rotation. A stabilizing structure in each column interacts with the post to maintain engagement between the rack and pinion structure and maintains the work table in a horizontal position during adjustment and use.

摘要： In furniture having vertically adjustable legs, the legs comprise inner and outer telescoping leg segments which are relatively vertically movable. The inner leg segment carries brake shoes which are movable transversely relative to the longitudinal axis of the inner leg segment. A pair of levers are disposed within the inner leg segment and are swingable about a common transverse axle so as to selectively lengthen and shorten the effective transverse dimension of the levers. Outer ends of the levers bear against respective brake shoes, such that when the effective transverse dimension of the levers is lengthened, the brake shoes are pushed outwardly into frictional engagement with the outer leg segment to prevent movement of the latter. When that effective transverse dimension is shortened, the brake shoes are retracted to release the outer leg segment for movement.
