    • A method and apparatus for providing a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) jet pump three point slip joint clamp to mitigate sleep joint leakage flow induced vibration of a BWR jet pump assembly. A collar, provided as one seamless component or in separate portions, is installed on the upper crown of a diffuser. The collar includes a lower set of fasteners and an upper set of fasteners that contact the inlet mixer and diffuser, respectively, to horizontally stabilize the inlet mixer in a fixed position inside of the diffuser. The upper fasteners may be anchored by bosses that ensure a light-weight design of the collar. An optional cantilevered seal (including a cantilevered overhang and a lip) may mitigate leakage from the slip joint interface.

    • The reactor pressure vessel comprises a pipe socket (2) connected to a feed-water supply line (3), in which is disposed a coaxial protective sleeve (5) (thermal sleeve) which expands with changes in temperature. With its outer end the protective sleeve (5) slidably abuts the pipe socket (2) and with its inner end it is connected to a feed-water distributing ring situated in the vessel. A pipe section (10), in which bellows (15) are disposed, is inserted between the outer end of the pipe socket (2) and the feed-water supply line (3). With one end the bellows (15) are tightly connected to the outer end of the protective sleeve (5) and with their other end they are tightly connected to the pipe section (10).

    • A feedwater sparger assembly, and more particularly a thermal sleeve device, to prevent relatively cold feedwater from contacting the vulnerable surfaces of a feedwater nozzle in a boiling water nuclear reactor. Inner and outer concentric tubular thermal sleeve members (42,56) span the distance between the sparger (12) and a substantially cylindrical transition surface (34) machined into the feedwater nozzle (14) or pipe (22). At the first ends (46,64) of the tubular members, adjacent the transition surface (34), a packing means (50), is deformed against the transition surface (34). The second ends (60,62) of the tubular members are operatively connected to the sparger (12). One of the tubular members (42,56) is rigidly connected to the sparger (12) and the other tubular member is mounted on the sparger such that it can be longitudinally moved relative to the rigidly connected member. This longitudinal movement compresses the packing and intensifies an interference fit (78) between an outer surface (66) of the outer member (56) and the transition surface (34 ) to provide a fluid-tight seal.

    • A connector assembly and an installation method therefor provides a fluid-tight joint between a nozzle and a column concentrically supported within the nozzle. An annular seal assembly is disposed above a flange formed on the interior of the nozzle. A spacer sleeve is threaded to the nozzle for engagement with a ledge formed on the column. A clamp assembly is mounted to the column at a fixed position and includes means for raising the column in relation to the nozzle to fix the axial position of the column. A nut threaded to the column is rotatable for forcing a drive sleeve into compressive engagement with the seal assembly to produce a fluid-tight seal between the column and the nozzle.
