    • An arrangement for exchanging heat between a system of pipes which conduct a fluid heat exchange medium and a platelike heat exchange member. The arrangement is particularly intended for use in connection with air temperature regulating means such as solar heaters and waste heat systems which operate at a small temperature differential between the temperature of the plate-like heat exchange member and the fluid medium. Mutually facing surfaces of two substantially parallel material layers form a plenum. One of these surfaces comprises one side of the plate-like heat exchange member. The pipes which conduct the fluid medium are arranged parallel to one another in the plenum and are spaced apart from each other in a longitudinal direction of the plenum. A stream of gas or air is arranged to flow through the plenum. Gaps are formed on opposite sides of the pipes by spacer means. These gaps extend along a considerable part of the outer surface of each pipe and the gaps are dimensioned to cause the air or gas to move in a laminate flow through the gaps.

    • This invention is a heating and cooling wall panel that accomplishes heating by radiating to bodies in a space thermal energy from a source of warmed water delivered to the panel at low pressure, and cools bodies in a space by absorbing thermal energy radiated to the panel from those bodies and passing the heat thus gained to a cooled fluid also delivered at low pressure. The heat transfer by this panel is accomplished when only small temperature differentials exist between the fluid and the space owing to the extreme thinness of the radiating-cum-absorbing panel face.

    • A precast concrete solar collector panel of moldable hardenable material is developed with a serpentine-like passageway disposed in proximity to at least one planar surface of the panel. The passageway serves as a conduit for conveying a fluid to effect a heat transfer intermediate the proximate planar surface of the panel and the fluid rendering the panel useable as a heat collector or as a source of radiant heat, depending upon the relative temperatures between the conveyed fluid and the proximate planar surface. By constructing the panel as a structural member, a plurality of panels can be employed as a roof, exterior building wall, walkway, driveway or fence to receive radiant energy from the sun and transfer the collected heat to the fluid flowing within each of the panels; further panels can be employed as interior walls, ceilings or floors in buildings as sources of radiant heat by passing a heated fluid through the passageways.

    • An apparatus for the storage of thermal energy and for the distribution of such thermal energy to the interior of a building. The preferred system utilizes prestressed, precast concrete decking panels with hollow cores through which a fluid conducting conduit extends to form a grid within the decking panels. Selected cores have spaced ports communicating with face surfaces of the panels to provide an air flow passage through the selected cores. Fluid from a primary heat storage is controllably circulated through the conduit so that the fluid and the panels provide a secondary storage as well as a heat radiator for continuous even heating while the air flow passages permit forced or gravity flow heating of air for rapidly compensating for an extreme or sudden heat loss.
