    • A compact simplified compressor apparatus is provided with a rotating shaft rotationally driven by a motor, a compact compressor activated by the rotating shaft, an air feeding means for feeding a high-pressure air from the compact compressor to a tire, and a power source plug supplying an electricity to the motor. The compact compressor is provided with a rod attached to the rotating shaft via a crank, a piston having a peripheral groove in an outer peripheral surface and integrally formed with the rod, a cylinder having a cylinder chamber receiving the piston so as to freely reciprocate, and a ring seal sealing between the piston and an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder chamber. The ring seal is provided with a base portion having a base surface seating on a groove wall surface in the rod side of the peripheral groove, and inner and outer lip portions, each extending from the base portion toward radially inside and outside so as to be opened toward the opposite rod side.

    • The oil control ring 1 is provided to attach in an annular groove 10 formed in a piston 2 for internal combustion engine. The spacer expander 4 comprises a base 8, a plurality of supports 6 and a plurality of arms 7. The supports 6 and arms 7 are integrally formed with the base 8 to extend from an outer periphery 8a or inner periphery 8b of the base 8. The supports 6 resiliently urge a side rail 5 mounted on the space expander 4 toward an upper surface 14 of the annular groove 10 so that during upward stroke of the piston 2, the supports 6 can be resiliently deformed to form between the side rail 5 and upper surface 14 of the groove 10 a radial passage through which oil scraped by the side rail can be drained. Each arm 7 is provided with a lug 8 to resiliently urge the side rail 5 in radial and outward direction.

    • Noncontacting surface areas are provided between the top wall of an oil control ring and the top surface of its groove to avoid entrapment of oil between adjacent surfaces of the two members during downward motion of a piston in a reciprocating, internal combustion engine. The noncontacting surface areas may be provided by circular grooves formed in the top surface of the groove or the ring. Alternatively, either the top surface of the groove or the top wall of the oil control ring may be formed so that it slopes away from the surface of its mating member and forms a tapered annular cavity that diverges away from the outer cylindrical surface of the piston. All of the described arrangements reduce the contact area between the top of the ring and the top of the groove during downward movement of the piston, thereby permitting the oil control ring to seal against the upper surface of its groove. The present invention effectively controls the flow of oil toward the compression ring during intake and expansion strokes of the engine.

    • A combined oil ring is comprised of a steel oil ring having a generally I-shaped section consisting of upper and lower rails and a web connecting the both rails and a coil expander for forcing the oil ring outwardly. Each of the outer circumferential sliding surfaces of the circumferential outer projecting portions in the upper and lower rails forms a nitrided surface with a hardness of Hv 900 or more, at least one of the upper and lower surfaces in the circumferential outer projecting portion forms a surface with a hardness of lower than Hv 700, and a width of the outer circumferential sliding surface is smaller than 0.25 mm. The other surface of the upper and lower surfaces forms a nitrided surface with a hardness of Hv 900 or more or a surface with a hardness of lower than Hv 700.

    • For sealing between two opposed surfaces of two machine elements (1, 2) a combination seal is provided to be fitted into an open groove (3) in one of the machine elements (2). The seal comprises an electomeric expansion ring (4, 5) at the bottom of the groove (3), an intermediate ring (6) made of a viscous-elastic material, e.g. PTFE and having a sealing surface (6b) to contact the mating machine element (2), and an elastomeric outer ring (8) fitted into a separate groove (7) in the sealing surface (6b) of the intermediate ring. Especially in cases where the seal is to separate fluid and gas an improved distribution of the contact pressure at the sealing surface (6b) and also an effective hydrodynamic relief of the outer ring (8) preventing its exposure to injurious pressures and subsequent damage is obtained by designing the intermediate ring (6) at the ends of the sealing surface (6b) with comparatively sharp corners (16, 17), the parts of the sealing surface between these corners and the separate groove (7) forming conical faces (14, 15) which at a narrow slit angle converge towards the separate groove (7). The intermediate ring may also be biassed by the two expansion rings (4, 5) placed on each side of the separate groove (7).

    • A two-piece type oil ring assembly consisting of a single spacer expander in the form of a split annulus and a side rail in the form of a flat split annulus. The spacer expander has a flat lower surface for making plane contact with the lower side of an oil ring groove when the assembly is mounted in the oil groove of a piston. The spacer expander has a radially, substantially L-shaped section composed of a trough portion, an outer crest portion integrally connected to the trough portion from outside, and an inner crest portion integrally connected to the trough portion from inside, the inner crest portion being taller than the outer crest portion. The spacer expander has a multiplicity of radial slots extending alternatively from the inner periphery of the inner crest portion to the inner periphery of the outer crest portion and from the outer periphery of the outer crest portion to the outer periphery of the inner crest portion. A plurality of oil grooves pass radially through the spacer expander. The lower surface of the side rail is placed on the outer crest portion while the inner periphery of the side rail is supported by the slanting surface of the inner crest portion.
