The strapping device is provided with a common drive for the tensioner for producing a tensioning motion, and for the friction welder for producing an oscillating friction welding motion and for a transitioning device for producing a transitioning motion of the friction welder from a rest position to a welding position.

    • A supported strap twist device reorients a strap along a strap path. The device includes an inlet, an outlet and a reorienting section. The reorienting section includes a body having entrance and exit ends and a transition section therebetween. The transition section has a through-bore having a varying cross-sectional shape defining a race. The race has, at a first end, an opposed inwardly pinched circular profile defining a gap. The circular profile thins along the race toward an hourglass profile, and has, at a second end, an elongated shape. The gap has a substantially constant width along the race. The strap enters the first end at an angle relative to the second end and is reoriented to a desired orientation at the second end. The strap is supported by the race as it traverses therethrough.

    • A machine core of a packing machine includes a packing strap ironing adhering and strap cutting mechanism, an ironing adhering sliding board mechanism, and a control mechanism. The machine core is further provided with a strap feeding and returning and strap tightening device. The strap feeding and returning and strap tightening device includes a drive roller (3), a first driven roller (1), and a second driven roller (2). According to the entry direction of a packing strap, the first driven roller (1) is located down-stream from the second driven roller (2). The first driven roller (1) and the second driven roller (2) are respectively arranged eccentrically. The first driven roller (1) and the drive roller (3) are always in contact with one another and cooperate for feeding and returning the strap. The second driven roller (2) is a movable roller, and is controlled by the control mechanism to move to a first matching state with the drive roller (3) and to move out of the first matching state with the drive roller (3). The first matching state is the state in which the second driven roller (2) and the drive roller (3) are in contact with and cooperating with one another for tightening the strap. The machine core of the packing machine has a simple structure, can enable movement of simultaneous strap returning and tightening, thereby reducing failure rate, and achieving good packing.

    • A retainer unit for use in a wire binding machine in order to retain and subsequently release a wire during the tightening thereof around one or more objects. The retainer unit comprises: a wire retaining member pivotable, under the action of a press force exerted by a wire, from an advanced wire retaining position to a retracted wire releasing position; a blocking mechanism moveable from a blocking position, in which it prevents the wire retaining member from being pivoted to the wire releasing position, to a non-blocking position, in which it allows the wire retaining member to be pivoted to the wire releasing position. The blocking mechanism is arranged to move to the non-blocking position under the effect of said wire when the wire reaches a given inclination towards a wire contacting part of the wire retaining member. The invention also relates to a wire binding machine comprising several such retainer units.
