摘要： A shark repellant patch is provided which includes a highly flexible, impermeable membrane sealing a shark repelling substance to a highly flexible base. The membrane is provided with imperfections that cause the membrane to shear when it is subjected to a predetermined level of force. In one embodiment of the invention, a tab is provided proximate the imperfections to facilitate rupturing the membrane. An adhesive is applied to a portion of the base. An exemplary method of fabrication is also provided.

Full high torque at any position, with selectable spreading or cutting motions under high loads is achieved by the use of a rotary, multiple stage, speed reducing gearbox driven by the motor. The gearbox contains an input stage from the electric motor running on a 12 volt DC power supply, and a compound planetary output stage. The arms or jaws of the device are separately driven by the planetary or spindle gears and, for convenience, are attached to external rings on the gears, by heavy duty pins. The arms or jaws are removable for interchanging between cutting and spreading configurations, or replacement with general purpose arms capable of both cutting and spreading operations.

摘要： An emergency escape tool is proposed for escaping from a car when an accident happens. Scissors for cutting a seat belt and a spike are provided. The spike is held at and retractably protrudes from a handle of the scissors. A tip of the spike is pressed against a window glass. A spike driver is housed in the handle. The spike driver usually urges the spike in the protruding direction. When the spike pressed against the window is displaced inwardly, the spike driver accumulates a compression force corresponding to the displacement. According to the accumulated compression force, the spike is promptly pressed toward the protruding direction so as to break the window glass.

To activate when needed, an inflation pull ring (62) connected to a pressure vessel and valve (30) is manually pulled to release a pressurized gas into the chambers (20) between the inner sphere wall (40) and the outer sphere wall (38), the sphere walls being limited in separation by the use of wall partition segments (44,46,48) having air communications openings (42) to allow free air flow throughout the chambers (20). Immediately after pulling the inflation ring (62), the person crouches down and the sphere is very quickly and forcefully expanded, detaching the cover (52), to its inflated spherical configuration and totally encloses the person, providing protection and buoyancy in snow avalanche environments. Deflation is accomplished using the pressure relief valve (26), then either exit enclosure (24/36) is opened using the fabric handles (22) and the occupant releases the belt (28) and steps out of the device.

摘要： A rescue craft includes a self-propelled car or elevator type of flying machine for rescuing persons from high-rise buildings, during fires, or other emergencies. The craft is powered by fan-jet engines capable of lifting the unit in vertical take-offs. A cable attached to a ground structure is used to control the craft and facilitate descent to ground level. An internal guidance system provides 360.degree. maneuverability around the cable and facilitates docking against the sides of buildings, etc. The ground structure comprises a flat-bed tractor/trailer equipped to transport the craft to the scene of an emergency. The ground structure is fully self-contained with diesel power, a winch for the cable, lighting, refueling capability, and is fully ballasted and outrigged and capable of launching and receiving the rescue craft.
