    • A PCV system with a check valve device oriented in a vertical direction and including a valve body, a seat member, and a stopper plate. The valve body includes a valve head constructed of elastomer. The seat member includes a valve seat surface on a lower surface thereof. The seat member further includes at least one perforation which opens into the lower surface. The valve head of the valve body is disposed below the valve seat surface so as to resiliently contact the valve seat surface when no differential pressure acts on the valve. A stopper plate is disposed between the lower surface of the seat member and the valve head of the valve body. The stopper plate prevents the valve head from being excessively deformed into the perforation to cause cracks to develop in the valve head. As a result, the durability of the check valve device is improved.

    • This invention relates to a flapper check valve having a valve housing which has at least one outlet opening. A valve backer plate having a plurality of arcuate backer through holes is positioned generally parallel to a valve port plate having a plurality of arcuate port through holes. The valve port plate and valve backer plate are sealably secured with respect to the valve housing. In an open position of the flapper check valve, the backer through holes are in communication with the port through holes. At least one peripheral spacer/hermetic seal is positioned at a generally peripheral location relative to the valve port plate. Upon combustion within the combustion chamber, the flapper check valve prevents fluid/gas backflow in a direction from the valve backer plate to the valve port plate. At least one flat central spacer is positioned at a generally central location relative to the valve port plate and the valve backer plate. A plurality of inner spacer/guide pins are positioned on an interior surface of the valve port plate. The inner spacer/guide pins provide sufficient support to the valve backer plate whereby the valve backer plate can have a reduced thickness and still resist deflection when the valve backer plate is subjected to relatively high pressures from within the valve housing during a combustion cycle within the combustion chamber.

    • A compressor plate valve has a valve seat (1) with flow passages (6), a valve guard and a valve plate (7) formed from concentric rings (16, 17) joined together by radial webs (18). In order to damp the valve plate (7), and in particular to lessen its impact both on opening and on closing the valve, and to reduce troublesome adhesion between the plates, the valve plate (10) comprises a closure plate (14) of soft material such as plastics, and a guide plate (15) of hard material such as steel. The two plates have the same outline in plan view and lie firmly against each other, the soft closure plate (14) facing the valve seat (1) and the guide plate (15) facing the valve guard (2). Only the outer ring (16) of the two plates (14, 15) is loaded by springs (13) and is substantially wider than the inner rings (17).

    • The valving element, according to the first embodiment depicted, comprises a plate-type element having an undulated or scalloped edge or periphery. The plate-type element has a plurality of flow ports formed therein each of which subtends an arc drawn from the radial center of the element. The ends of the ports, which otherwise would be subject to fatigue, failure and fracture, are spaced further from the edge than in prior art practice. Accordingly, the shock of impact of the plate-type element on opening or closing is less likely to precipitate fatigue and failure of the port ends. Additionally, at a plurality of locations about the periphery, the plate-type element has linear portions; upon the plate-type element impacting on any of these linear portions, it will make a line contact which more readily disperses the impact shock.

    • A compressor valve assembly for use with a gas compressor, comprises a valve seat, a valve guard, and between the valve seat and the valve guard a valve seat plate and a resilient valve member disposed side-by-side. These members are apertured with the apertures of the valve member and valve seat plate out of registry with each other, the valve member being adapted to flex toward and away from the seat plate thereby to open and close the apertures through the seat plate. The valve member has a plurality of radially extending arms that interconnect the central portion of the valve member with a peripheral portion of the valve member, and generally radially extending slots through the valve member bordering these arms. The valve seat plate has radially extending imperforate portions that underlie these slots, thereby to close the slots in the closed position of the valve assembly so as to prevent leakage of gas through those portions of the slots that overlie annular grooves in the valve seat. The valve seat plate also has radially extending slots therethrough that underlie the arms of the valve member, whereby those arms open and close the last-named slots as the valve member flexes, so that those arms add to the effective area of the valve.
