    • A drive unit for power control of electric motors comprises a circuit board (10) with surface leads and a number of logic components as well as power controlling semi-conductors (11), and two or more power distribution bars (16) which extend along the circuit board (10) and are connected to a power source and/or one or more motor connections, each of the power distribution bars (16) is a sheet metal stamping formed with a number of integral connector pins (20) which are to be received in a number of apertures (22) in the circuit board (10) and rigidly connected to the surface leads for communication with the semi-conductors (11), wherein each one of the power distribution bars (16) is stamped from a flexible thin sheet metal and folded along a longitudinal line (31) into two parallel sections (32,33) whereof the connector pins (20) extend from a first one (32) of the two sections (32,33), and each one of the connector pins (20) is substantially Z-shaped for providing an increased flexibility and for forming together with a second one (33) of the two sections (32,33) a fixing device for a ferrite ring element (28).

    • A thin power supply is configured to be mounted vertically within a card cage for pin assembly connection with the forward face of a backplane. Through the utilization of a vertical flat metal platform in combination with a thin sheet metal folded fin array, the components of the power supply may be cooled by fan driven air of passing through the card cage itself. To achieve heat dissipation, those components of the power supply which exhibit higher heat dissipation characteristics are firmly coupled with the power supply platform such that the bulk of the heat generated by them is dissipated by the folded fin array and the card cage fan driven air passing over and through it. Other components not having high beat dissipation characteristics are circuit board mounted and cooled by the movement of fan driven card cage air flow which passes through the housing of the power supply.

    • A bolt-on configuration of a power distribution system utilizes an apparatus which connects a first element to a second element, the second element having a hole, such that a minimum predetermined force exists at the connection between the first element and the second element. The apparatus comprises a shaft, having a first, second, and third diameter along the axis of the shaft, thereby forming a first, second, and third shaft, respectively, the first diameter being the smallest diameter and the third diameter being the largest diameter. The first shaft is threaded, for mating with the second element. A spring, having an inside diameter smaller than the diameter of the third shaft and having a length approximately equal to the length of the first and second shaft is coaxially positioned over the first and second shaft. When the first element is placed in contact with the second element, there is applied a minimum predetermined force between the first and second element by the action of the spring when the first shaft is inserted into the hole of the second element to the point where the base of the second shaft contacts the surface of the first element.
