摘要： In order to enable V.34 fax relay communications over IP (“FoIP”) without increasing a gateway complexity, the gateway relays all types of fax control signals in demodulated form and transfers fax image type signals either as demodulated or as PCM encoded signal, based on a predetermined condition. The PCM data type is added to FoIP protocol to allow transferring PCM encoded fax image signals without exiting from FoIP mode of operation until the completion of a fax call. During a FoIP call, the communicating gateway determines whether the input fax signal is a ‘fax control signal’ or a ‘fax image’ type signal. If the gateway determines that the input signal is a fax control signal or supported fax image signal, it handles it in a traditional fax relay manner. However, if the gateway determines that the input fax image type signal cannot be demodulated, it outputs the fax signal to the IP network as PCM encoded signal and without performing demodulation.

摘要： A system for providing an internet fax service has an engine to process a raw fax document, received for a user of the internet fax service, using digital character recognition to produce recognized text or an associated formatted text document. A conversion engine may convert the raw fax to native file format being one of a) word processor format, b) spreadsheet format, c) slide presentation format, or d) another format that can be read on a user interface. An internet server is to make the native file format document available to the user over an internet. A fax content processing unit is to perform keyword scanning of the recognized text, and then allows the user to search for stored faxes by keyword. Other embodiments are also described.

The information is ordered using the mobile device and received from the server by facsimile transmission via any facsimile system at any telephone number specified. By this system and method, any facsimile system anywhere becomes an accessible printer. Further, screen snapshots of the limited data appearing on mobile digital communication device displays, complete reproductions of unlimited data represented on the mobile device, and other information specified via the mobile device, including webpages may be reproduced in hard copy format by facsimile transmission.

摘要： When an information processing apparatus has moved from one sub-area to another sub-area, anycast is performed to a plurality of management servers using an IP address for anycast in accordance with network management information. Network management information is acquired from a management server which has responded to the anycast. The acquired network management information and installed device driver information are analyzed. If there is a device driver for a device belonging to the sub-area managed by the management server which has responded, one of the devices belonging to the other sub-area is selected as a default device. This arrangement enables the selection of an appropriate default printer when a client has moved from a network environment managed by one management server to another network environment managed by another management server.
