    • An iron core transformer with at least one primary winding and at least one secondary winding of which at least one of the windings are wound with aluminum wire is disclosed for use in relatively low power applications, for example 5 kVa or below. The primary and secondary windings are connected to primary and secondary terminals. In order to overcome the effects of oxidation of the aluminum wire over time which can result in compromising the connection between the aluminum wire and its corresponding terminal, the terminals are formed as insulation displacement type terminals that are configured to strip any coatings or other contaminants on the aluminum wire during insertion of the aluminum wire into the terminal. The terminals are further configured to apply a constant spring biasing force against the aluminum conductor after it has been inserted. Thus, the transformer in accordance with the present invention is able to take advantage of the relatively low cost of aluminum wire, while at the same time providing stable connections between the aluminum wire and the transformer terminals. In order to facilitate the assembly of the transformer, in accordance with one aspect of the invention, a number of sockets are integrated into the bobbin for receiving the transformer terminals.

    • The present invention provides a slot type connecting terminal (40) which may make a connection between the conductor material (Wc) of the insulated conductor (W) and the slot (42) by penetration into the insulation of conductor and contacting the conductor material therewith in the area at least half a circle of the arcuate, by weighing down of the conductor after setting the insulated conductor into the slot (42) of terminal (40), and the slot having semi-circular knife edge profile in at least the lower part thereof will penetrate and make a contact area between them. The cover has a scoring line (24) formed in transverse direction to the length of the cover by cutting off a part of its height, leaving thin film at the scoring line such that the scoring line will act as a snap hinge (25). Since only the movable portion of the cover is snappingly engaged by the hooks (36, 38) provided in the terminal block body (30), access into the connected conductor within the terminal body can be made by simply turning up the movable portion of the cover (20) when connecting the conductor or during inspection or maintenance of the connection.

    • An electrical connector housing assembly consists of an insulating housing and a pair of insulating covers. The housing has a row of cavities extending diagonally across a central wall of the housing, each for receiving an electrical terminal having slotted plate portions with wire receiving slots opening in opposite directions and being located on opposite surfaces of the central wall. Each cover has a row of notches extending across a base wall of the cover, for receiving the end portion of a respective one of the slotted plates. According to a first mode of use, the slotted plates of each terminal are coplanar with each other and the covers are mated with the housing to drive the wires of flat flexible cables, into the wire receiving slots of the terminals with the two cables extending parallel to each other. According to a second mode of use, the slotted plates of each terminal, are twisted about a neck of the terminal so that the slotted plates thereof extend at right angles to each other. For this mode of use, one of the covers is mated with the housing in a second angular orientation which is orthogonal with respect to the first angular orientation, the cables extending at right angles to each other, according to the second mode.

    • A shielded connector assembly is provided for a coaxial cable which includes a center conductor with an insulating layer thereabout, a conductive shield and an outer insulating covering. A non-conductive body is provided for receiving an end of the coaxial cable with the conductive shield exposed. The body has a conductive contact thereon for engaging the center conductor of the cable. A conductive outer casing is positioned about at least a portion of the body for shielding the cable end and having a portion for engaging the outside of the conductive shield of the cable. A rigid sheath is positioned between the insulating layer and the conductive shield of the cable to provide backing support for the shield on the inside thereof. The portion of the conductive outer casing which engages the outside of the conductive shield of the cable projects through a slit in the body. Preferably, the body includes a single lower body part and a pair of upper body parts. The conductive outer casing includes a single lower casing half and an upper casing half defined by two casing parts. The connector assembly thereby can interconnect the ends of two coaxial cables and facilitate some assembly being performed in a production environment and the remaining assembly being performed in the field.

    • Motor stator comprises a stator core having coil windings thereon which are connected to lead wires. A motor protector is connected to at least one of the windings and to one lead wire. The electrical connections between the lead wires, the windings and the protector are made by means of a stator connector mounted on the stator core and which has a pocket which receives the protector. Adjacent to the pocket, a cavity is provided which receives a terminal which connects one of the windings to a first terminal extending from the protector. The windings extend to terminals in the connector which have terminal tabs. The tabs are matable with receptacles in a complementary connector which can be coupled to the stator connector. The second protector terminal extends into the connector housing and is received in a terminal therein which also has a tab for mating with a receptacle in the complementary connector.
